Absolutely do not recommend doing business with Blackhawk as working with him and Carefree was a hugely disappointing experience. Below is a long but incomplete list of issues affecting our van's ******* integrity, function, and simply poor craftsmanship. 1. They left and unsealed hole in the roof made to internalize the ** wiring and hoses.2. Although we paid for a fully insulated van, they left large areas completely lacking insulation. 3. No fuses installed on the solar charge controller, inverter charger, batteries, or DC charger, exposing the electrical system to shorts and damage.4. All the penetrations made into van the exposed bare metal which was left unpainted (subjecting metal to rust). 5. The DC/DC charger did not work because the signal wire was not installed.6. We specified Espar but Webasto unit was installed. We're currently without a heater.7. The mounting screws for our elevator bed were placed on the sides of bed frame which broke through the frame. 8. They left piles of saw dust and wood shavings in the water and electric compartments, electric and water cabinets made in part with scrap lumber. No ventilation in the electric compartment. Liberal use of fabric to conceal rather than finish carpentry. See pics.We opted for a custom build to avoid the poor craftsmanship often seen with commercial RV's. We ultimately chose Carefree due to 1) the attention to detail Blackhawk demonstrated in the build of his first van, 2) the positive image projected by the company online, 3) coupled with a promising telephone discussion with their initial project manager and Blackhawk.Blackhawk stated on the website, "Everyone deserves to have things built exactly how they want, and I want to be the person who makes that happen!" Regrettably, reality fell far short and despite spending almost $70,000, we are left with a van essentially requiring a rebuild to get what we asked for.
