Over the last years my neighborhood has received an increasing amount of letters claiming to be from Home Warranty Companies, "offering" home warranty extensions due to the existing one expiring. In this case, I have received a letter claiming that my home warranty was expiring and I had 21 days to call a number and pay the extension fee so it would not. They had my bank loan information, as well as the name of a previous owner of the home. When I called and I spoke to the first person they refused to give me the mailing address for the Headquarters, as well as their company ID. When I called the second time, they refused to disclose anything other than their company name. By the third time I called I informed the person on the line that I have a right as a consumer to know how they came in possession of my personal information. When they refused to give it to me and I asked if it would be more effective if I had my lawyer call, they laughed at me and said that a lawyer would cost me more than the $295 it would cost to extend the warranty and then hung up. When I called back again the number had been disconnected. The letter does not list the company's name, ID, contact info or connection to my bank, which is supposedly who the initial home warranty was. The zip code the letter was mailed from states *****. The Permit # for the postage service is #****. After researching on the BBB website, there are many of complaints about this company charging mostly elderly people $295 without authorization. Many not even knowing they agreed to it. When looking on the internet I discovered there is a company with the website **********************************; however, they are listed to be located in *******, **, with the information: Harbor Home Warranty, 300 S Harbor ********************************, **************, whose phone number nor zip code do not match up with the phone numbers listed in the letter ***************) or the zip code on the envelope, which was *****.

Im receiving mailers from a company called Harbor home warranty. Their name isnt on the page anywhere, so I called the number and asked that take me off their mailing list. The gentleman refused to listen to me. He just talked over me telling me what a wonderful warranty I was not taking advantage of..I believe theyre targeting me because Im disabled and I think theyre assuming Im really old or something, but if my 83 YO mother was to get this kind of thing, it would scare the day lights out of her, and shed sign up, as I imagine most elderly would.at first I was even concerned about my doing something wrong when I saw the;SECURED BY: ***** FARGO BK NA I did read that you attempted to get them to stop, sued into submission or out of business. These people need to be stopped. The number I put below is a property code on the mailer. They ask you for that as soon as you call. This company is criminalistic and need to be shut down.

Received unsolicited notice re a possibly expired or expiring home warranty by a company that *sounds like our mortgage holder but is not. The notice was sent to my minor daughter at our address and there is no business address on the notice or envelope. They are clearly scamming people - see all the reviews - hey California business authorities, can you shut these a**holes down?

I continue to receive these threatening letters regarding a false time frame. I have received no less than 50 letters over the last 2 years. I have called the number on the form and asked to be removed from the list, but your representative only hangs up the phone after this request. They continue to send letters and this is harassment. Property code 001Tf1496126. I reported this company to the ************************ 1/9/24. Report number for your reference is *********.

I have received numerous letters claiming to me from my lender regarding an expiring home warranty claiming to expire in 21 days. No such policies exist. Harbor home is not indicated anywhere in the letter or envelope. Just ************** is listed. I called and they said they were harbor home warranty. The letter is misleading and a bait and switch targeting anyone that will fall for these techniques. Luckily I am well versed in these scams tbh at should be and are borderline illegal.

On Feb 5th, an elderly family member received mail from Harbor Home Warranty but their company name was nowhere on the mail. The mail implied that he owed money to this company so he called them and somehow was talked into buying a home warranty, and the next day an electronic check was deducted out of his checking account for $295. He never knew what he purchased. This company operates in a very shady way, first not identifying themselves, then disguising their marketing "offer" as a bill. They are taking advantage of seniors who are easily confused and easily fooled. Stay away from them!

I am the *** for my aunt, *************************. In checking her bank account today I see she paid $295 to Harbor Home Warranty for service contract 0130H5010. According to her, she did not sign up for this contract. I called ************ and did not receive an answer due to the time difference so I left a message. I also emailed for cancelation through the BBB website and sent a request for cancelation, refund, and addition to the *** list through their website ******************************************* this is during their listed business hours.I called ************ again during listed business hours and was immediately put on hold for several minutes. After four minutes I received a message that this was call was after business hours and to leave a message, which I did, however; according to their website I am attaching my *** and medical documentation of my aunt's dementia. This is also a request for cancelation, a refund of $295 be issued immediately, and her address of ********************************************************************** be placed on your *** list. If there are any other questions do not hesitate to let me know. I will be following up with complaints to other appropriate agencies including the **** FCC, CFPB, and VA and CA State Attorney General's Offices.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to submit your concern.

Per the conversation we had with you this morning and emailed confirmation, we followed through on all of your requests removing from any future marking campaigns and issued a full refund. Your aunt will not be contacted by our company in any form.

After speaking with ***** and **** yesterday I still have questions regarding information gleaned from that conversation.  They are as follows:

-***** said she saw in her notes that ******* *** have dementia.  Who put that in the notes?  If that was in the notes, why was she sold a contract?

-***** said it would take up to 30 days, however, I was sent a check immediately after the call electronically.  Why did this change suddenly when I spoke with ****?

-****, the financial manager, said ******* is on the, "Global DNC list" and, "should not have been sold."  How was she placed on this list if this was the first contact with Harbor Home  Warranty as **** said?  If ******* is on this list, why did she receive mail?

-Who is the representative that sold ******* this contract?  What reprimands will this person face for blatantly ignoring the Global DNC list as well as a note stating she *** have dementia?  What training is provided for employees to put such notes on accounts?  What safeguards are put into place to protect customers who *** have dementia to prevent them from making financial choices that *** not be competent to make?

-Since ******* was on the Global DNC list she should already be removed from all marketing campaigns, correct?  I'm not sure what a marking campaign is or how that's relevant.

-The electronic check sent yesterday is not showing up in the account yet so any agreement of my requests being met will not be confirmed until that is complete and my questions above have been addressed.

We again apologize for the situation with ******* and can appreciate the family's frustration in having to cancel an 11th coverage plan she has set up on her home. However, at this point we have honored all requests and the matter is now closed in our office. To recap, she has been removed from our mailing list, (marketing campaigns) the coverage she called our office to activate has been canceled and refunded in full. (this process is 3-5 business days, depending on the banking institution) We were not aware of *******'s condition prior to you calling in. The Global DNC list applies to centers that call out and since the customer contacted us to activate the coverage we cannot refuse someone service or goods based on age. However we understand this is a delicate situation so the cancellation was processed immediately and refunded in full. Moving forward this matter has been placed with our Escalations Team for review of process and no further information is available directly. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Your response has blatant lies. First, I was told on the phone that there was a note that said my aunt, may have dementia. So obviously there was some awareness unless that note manifested itself while talking to me. Second, **** told me on the phone, She shouldnt have been sold. I take that to mean that she shouldnt have successfully purchased anything, regardless. Finally, who said anything about age? Now youre just saying anything to make yourself sound better.
The bottom line is your side doesnt add up and I do not want any future communication from or with you and my aunt. I suggest if she calls you have a note to end the call.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to share your concern.

After reviewing your file and initial activation call, you did in fact sign up for coverage with us on 8/24/2023. During the activation call we explained very clearly what the coverage is for and you gave verbal authorization agreeing to policy terms and payment terms. We also sent out policy details to the home and they were delivered to the home on 9/1/2023. Per the conversation you had with us on 2/6/2024, you confirmed that the phone number that called us to activate the coverage is your phone number.

The policy has been cancelled as of 2/6/2024.

You see it over and over again on the BBB website, Harbor home warranty preys on the elderly.  They due this by sending out predatory/misleading letters, my aunt is 85 years old and speaks maybe 5 words of English.  There is no way she knowingly signed up for a home warranty policy.  They say that the charges were approved over the phone but when asked to hear the conversation they had with my Aunt they say i need to get a judge order to listen to it.  If they had nothing to hide they would let me listen to the conversation but i am pretty sure they used fear tactics to scare and old lady out of her money.  My Aunt is on a fixed income and was swindled out of almost $1,300 by Harbor Home Warranty.  It would have been more if i had not caught the charges on her checking account and called to cancel the "policy" she supposedly signed up for.  There is a reason why Harbor home warranty has an "F" rating on the BBB website, they do not run a legitimate business.   It saddens me that these companies are allowed to do business in this country.

Unsolicited mailing that fails to identify their business. I found out the business name, Harbor Home Warranty, by searching for the phone number in the letter mailed. They claimed to have a policy that was purchased by my mortgage company and was getting ready to expire, and I needed to renew. There is no such policy in effect. This seems more like a SCAM to me, and I will not contact them for this reason. I would like no further correspondence from this shady company.
