In June of 2022, I took an O.A.R.S rafting trip on the Snake River with my friend, *******************. Everyone had a great time. Since then, I have been receiving emails from O.A.R.S. to go on another trip. I decided to book a trip on the Tuolumne River in ********** with my friend, ******, who just retired from a career in law enforcement. When I tried to book the trip on-line, I was told that I had to do it by phone. When I called in, I was told that I could not go on an O.A.R.S. trip because I rubbed someone's back. What? I believe that after a day of rowing, I may have given the guide a brief shoulder massage. So now I can never go on another trip with O.A.R.S. because I patted someone on the back or gave a massage in appreciation of a marvelous day of rowing? Yet they continue to invite me to go on trips!! ******************* is a bit of a partier. Do they have me confused with him, since we were together on the trip? I even brought my fly rod and taught others how to fly fish on the Snake River. I won't be in ********* *****, I won't be with ****, and I won't be with any of the guides from the Snake River, as I don't think those guides do the ********. And now I am banned forever, just for touching someone's back, even though they keep inviting me to go? This is absurd!Business response

To Whom it May ************************ ************************ trip with **** in ***** in June of 2022, staff members employed as river guides for **** on the Snake River reported several instances of inappropriate and problematic behavior. He appeared intoxicated at the pre-trip meeting the evening prior to the first day of the trip, and exhibited disruptive and confrontational behaviors that the expedition leader found troubling. The expedition leader spoke with Mr. ******* and his traveling companion the next morning prior to departure, and provided guidance and direction regarding expectations for traveling with a group in a wilderness setting. In spite of this, ******************** continued to create disturbances while periodically antagonizing the **** staff and his fellow passengers throughout the trip.
During the post-trip debrief with the staff, it was reported by multiple women that Mr. ******* engaged in non-consensual touching with them, providing unsolicited shoulder and back massages. The women moved away from the unwanted physical contact, but were left feeling uncomfortable and unsafe. It was determined by management that it would be better for ******************** to take any future interest in whitewater rafting trips to other providers.
************************ reports of receiving marketing emails for **** were the result of having been placed on an email list, prior to joining the expedition, that was not connected to the reservations software that records information about customer trip history. It was a mistake and oversight on the part of **** to not remove ******************** from the email list after the trip, and we apologize for the misunderstanding. **** has provided contact information for other rafting companies operating on the Tuolumne River where he would like to travel.
