Hired to build sunroom. Wrong window installed, ceiling to wall has 1/4inch gaps. Flashing and wood trim finish is peeling. Sunroom has leak and now when it rains water is coming in. No response from HomeStar or owner Dave Yastko. Left voicemails, emails and text all unanswered. Want this fixed and being ignored.

We signed a contract with HomeStar on June 17, 2022 to build a pergola in our backyard. There was absolutely nothing done since then. The owner kept telling us that materials were delayed in the beginning, and later told us that his business was failing, and we would get a refund as soon as possible. Every time we contacted him, he would say we would get a refund when he got the money. We recently contacted the owner again on June 13, 2023, and even sent him the contract, a copy of the deposit check, etc. We have all our communication records. It is now Aug 30, 2023, and we have received not even a penny. This is a fraud. There is no other way to put it. When we first asked about a pergola, they were so eager to send someone to our home to make measurements and the owner himself came and drew a diagram of the pergola. After we paid $4,400 as the deposit, there were no follow-ups and only excuses when we contacted them.

Signed an Order to have a Four Season sunroom removed and a new one installed on my current home, this was signed in Nov. 16, 2022. With Salesman B**** ******, he took a "good faith" deposit of $4270.00 **** Yatsko, President pf HomeStar came out on Nov. 21, 2022 to measure the home, take the order write up the plan and collect the money required to get all materials two checks for $8540 each. Start time end of Jan 2023. With all the rains and COVID things were pushed out to April. I have now found out that **** placed the order but never paid for the materials and the company is no longer doing business with HomeStar. All the phone calls and text message were very slow to be returned and he was always fast with an excuse but promised that he could start a week from the current Friday. I have since learned From **** himself, that a lot of his clients are asking for their money back due to delays. I have filed a complaint with State Contractors Licensing Board. At this point I would like a refund of the$21,350 that has been paid to him at this point. Attached are the contracts, copies of the checks and the copy of the complaint filed with the state.

This company built an enclosed patio cover approximately two years ago. The rains this past winter exposed several areas of water leakage causing those boards to swell around the skylight. As we are still under warranty, we made our first contact with the company on December 29, 2022. We h*** spoken to numerous individuals, including the owner, who h*** promised to take care of this issue, with no results. Not even a call back to schedule this repair. H*** documented 15 calls thus far. We spoke to the owner D*** on June 1, who assured us that we would hear back from someone within a week. Never happened. H*** left numerous messages since then. Very frustrated. We need your help. Thank you, Scott and Dorothy Love

On June 30, 2022 My son ,Tom Berry and PatriCia E. Berry entered an agreement with Home Star Construction agent B**** ****** at our home at *** **** **., Buellton, CA 93427 to purchase a Patio Room to be built for our home. Tom signed the the contract with my approval. ! issued a Down Payment check for $9,075.00 to begin the project immediately. The check was cashed the next day! On delivery a check for $12,705.00 would be issued. After completed and agreed construction a check for $14,520.00 would be issued. Total of $36,300.00 purchase price. Supplies were supposed to ordered immediately. After no further contact from the company, Tom drove to the business showroom in Arroyo Grande,CA. He spoke with the Secretary who was NOT aware of our purchase. Tom enlightened her and she located out contract. She would speak to the Owner, D**** A. Yatsko and we should expect a phone call. No cam No action! After waiting for the promised call, Tom called to complain. Time passed with no response. In January Tom again visited the buSiness. He walked in to find a customer with the Secretary who was on the phone with the owner. The customer was irate and after the same situation we were having she w811ted her money back and D**** told her "that isn't the way it works"! She determined he obviously had NO MONEY! Her had all new cement poured and had been waiting a long time. Tom was assured that D**** would call. In February, D**** did call. He said a crew would ·start within two weeks if the rain stopped.

It's been 2 weeks since I talked to you and have not heard from you since, as you stated on Feb 23rd you would call me and let me know status. I'm done waiting and done calling and I don't feel it's my place to be calling you or the store ALL the time! I have also enclosed a call log of ALL the calls I have made or calls I have received since purchasing the patio cover. I think I have done enough and it has ALWAYS been me, myself, and I that has made the effort to check on status of when, where, it will be installed and I'm sick and tired of the "I'm sorry"," I'll call you", "It should only be a couple of weeks", check to see if it's on the dock, short of employees, and on and on and etc, etc, etc!!!! I paid half of the deposit in good faith and feel this is also one sided as well. I am a returning customer and had even had a friend install a patio cover as well. Made quite a bit of money on my behalf, AND then I get treated like this. I have contacted my attorney and showed him the contract, and showed him my call log and he said I have a GREAT case. SO, here it is in the nut shell! I want the $4000. sent back and there will NEVER be anymore contact from me ever again! If you want this to go to court then we will, and I will be going for the interest lost plus breach of contract. I have been more then understanding, due to covid, holidays, and etc. but the time has come I'm DONE! I have a saying "excuses are like assholes and I already have one". I've had enough excuses from you to last me a lifetime. I'm really surprised that you would treat a returning customer this way but guess that's the way you run your business. Long and short of it is I will give you March 30th, 2023 to return my $4000. that is 3 weeks. If I don't receive my deposit back then I will be forced to go file papers with the court. I don't care if the patio is on some dock somewhere, or if that was a lie, or if it is all cut and ready to be installed, you can now put it where the sun don't shine. I have waited long enough, been patient long enough, it's over and done.

We want to register a complaint against Home Star Construction located in Arroyo Grande, CA. We have a contract with them to install a new patio cover that needs to be replaced due to damage during the recent storms in January 2023. We signed a contract in February and put two down payments to have the job started and to order material. When we signed a new contract we were told that the previous cover was not installed correctly, that it was shoddy work. We have not heard from the company since, we have tried calling but no answer.

I hired Homestar Construction to build a sunroom on 2/28/22. I paid $21,000 up front. They were to complete the work by 4/27/22 per the contract. I got the run around month after month saying because of Covid they could not get the material needed. I would call every few weeks and the receptionist Melissa would take my name down but no one ever called back. In 6/13/22, *** Ackerman the new manager called me apologizing for the delay and promised the work would get started in 2 weeks. Week after week passed and nothing was done and they never contacted me. In Sept I asked for a refund and the Owner D*** ****** apologizing for the delay and offered me a discount. I told him no I want my money. Then 9/20/22 they sent me a formal email saying this was a production update (first email I ever received from them) and that they would contact me soon. October came and went and then I got a call from *** the manager saying they would be starting soon, probably Thanksgiving week. They ended up starting Dec 2nd week of Dec. They did construct the sunroom and finished by 12/12/22. We noticed a few alignment issues and by then the rain had started and we found leaks by 12/27/22. I contacted *** and he said he would send Cliff the leak expert right away. I have to keep contacting them to see when they will send Cliff out but he still has not come out and its been more than a year since we started this project. I thought I was the lucky one getting my sunroom done but we are having issues with leaks and such. Because I need this sunroom to be leak free for an event we are having in a few weeks, I hired another repair man to come in and fix all the leaks. The cost to fix everything is $1536. I would like Homestar to reimburse me for the cost of the repairs. I paid $54,000 for the sunroom and another $1000 for electrical work they said I needed to have which I found out was not necessary. They also put some of the panels in backwards.

I am the latest victim of fraud with Home Star Construction located at 1107 El Camino Real in Arroyo Grande, CA 93420. Their CA License Number is 336439. I contracted them to build a sunroom on 12/28/22 and paid them upfront $34,500 by credit card to pour a concrete foundation and to purchase the building materials. Total contract is $69,000 with construction to be done by 03/17/2023. They were to pour concrete in February 2023, and they have not performed. My next payment is due on 03/06/2023 for $17,250 and I'm concerned that they will not perform. I just found out several days ago that others have been defrauded by the same company due to a public protest that was held in front of the business. A case was filed with the San Luis Obispo County DA’s office. I paid Home Star upfront $34,500 by credit card to purchase building materials that have not been delivered to me as agreed. They do not return telephone calls and the owner, Mr. Dave Yatsko, is never at the business in person. I have heard that he currently resides in Pismo Beach, CA and that his primary residence is now for sale. I suspect that he may file bankruptcy for the business and skip town with all the cash that he has collected on contracts that were not completed as promised. These people come to your home to take measurements and sketch the dimensions of the sliding windows, transoms, and lower panels for the sunroom.

This business is fraudulent! We contracted with them in November 2021 and foolishly paid upfront a deposit of $5,000. We never got our project built and we have been ghosted by the owner who refused to give our money back stating he " couldn't afford it". Dave Yatsco is sole owner of this business and it appears from the huge signs on their store front that they are still luring people in and still doing business. That means he is still taking peoples money and lying about the projects they can build. It astonishes me that this continues to happen and that he continues to commit fraud against this community. I filed a report with the federal trade commission and my hope is that they will soon investigate and stop this crime, he belongs in prison! I am in the process of filing with small claims court but I have serious doubt we will ever see our hard earned money from this crook.
