This business has beautiful looking doors. However, their construction is not as good as it should be for the expensive price you pay for the doors. We purchased an outside door for our wine room 3 years ago, and were surprised to later find-out they laminated vertical planks to achieve a wider looking plank appearance. The problem is that over time this lamination separates, especially if the door is exposed to sun or moisture, which most outside doors are. This separation causes fissures that allow increased damage to the door, unless treated at least annually. Further, the clear-coat seal used on the door is not of sufficient quality to prevent cracking and decay. I also question the overall quality of the wood selected for the door, as it has cracked in several places. When I asked for an explanation of the construction method and of the coating, I was told this is "normal practice." I was quoted over $1,000 to do the necessary repairs and re-coating. I also consulted a professional woodworker who does staining and coating on our garage doors and many of our neighbors doors, garage doors, and gates. He quoted less than 1/2 the Old World Door price, and we know his work is of the highest quality. The bottom line of this review is that you should be sure you know exactly what you are getting from this company before doing business with them. They are expensive and may not use the best construction, stain, or coating materials and methods. In my view, they are riding on a reputation of what may once have been a high quality product, but is now more of a profit formula-driven business. Nothing at all wrong with making money, but the value for the money is just not there.
