I did lipo of abdomen by ************* ven. A ridiculous amount of fat was left behind. Less than 4lbs of fat was taken out. My medication were not available when they were supposed to be. I had to make the 2 hour drive for my medication multiple times. She agreed to redo my surgery, which made my results worse. My stomach is uneven. There is more fat on one side than the other. & my stomach ultimately has two completely different sections. When I expressed dissatisfaction with results, Beautologie blocked me from being able to call in. All the numbers that originally worked, no longer worked when called from my phone, but worked perfectly when I called from friends/families phone. I recieved a email from a Beautologie manager saying theyve done all they can do for me will no longer help me with resolving my concerns. This second surgery only additional 2 lbs were taken out. At my operation blood was squirted all over me, was not cleaned up after the surgery. I went home covered in blood on my arms. At my post op, not all my stitches were removed. I had to spend an additional $49 an urgent care to get them removed because. I have done consultations and have my revision surgery booked to fix beautologies botched surgery. That MULTIPLE other surgeons have said was completely preventable and completely ****************** fault. Id love a refund if sort. I will say that Beautologie was a giant waste of money. I hate my body more now than I did before I went to Beautologie. Please save your money and do extensive research.

      Dear BBB,

I am unsure how much information we can share in this situation until I see a copy of the ***** authorization the complaint filer has signed.

Speaking in general terms and citing only what was shared in the complaint email, a patient choosing liposuction alone will have loose skin and if they choose to only proceed with liposuction, the skin will not tighten up without a tummy tuck.

Patients are encouraged to follow up with our office and take good care of themselves after surgery. Some patients choose not to follow up and refuse in office visits for proper care. Some patients gain weight after a liposuction surgery as well. Coming in for follow *** for documented visits, photos, and weight checks help us to be able to understand how healing is going and seeing the progression of results. For example, what is swelling vs. fat in the abdomen after liposuction. It can take a year or more for the swelling to subside after liposuction surgery.

In general we do offer to do additional liposuction if it is not safe at the original time of surgery to do any more. I am not certain if this is the case in the filer's situation but I can assure you that safety is our highest priority. We explain all risks and and obtain signed consents at patient's preoperative appointment, I have attached one for review. All Beautologie Liposuction patients receive a copy and sign this before proceeding with surgery.

In regards to medication, we work closely with local pharmacies in each of of our practice locations. When someone is traveling for a procedure, we can have the pharmacy mail the kit. Oftentimes the patient prefers for us to call this in to a local pharmacy. We will do as the patient requests and inform them of the benefits and drawbacks with each (for example RX may not all be in one kit when called into a local pharmacy).

Being an elective medical practice and unable to share private information from a medical chart makes our response difficult to fully convey.

I am rejecting this response because:

I should at minimum be refunded for the $509 cost for the revision. My stomach is worse that what it was to begin with. I have not gained any weight.  Ive spoken to multiple Surgeons since Beautologie and they each have stated that I wasted my money going to Beautologie as well the results I have were completely preventable if Beautologie didnt do a botched job.

As for my medications, I called Beautologie multiple times to confirm my medications were sent in, Beautologie confirmed, when in fact they werent. BEAUTOLOGIE IS A HACK JOB AND IF I COULD GO BACK IN TIME AND NOT HAVE GONE TO BEAUTOLOGIE I WOULD.  BEAUTOLOGIE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE RESULTS, NOR ITS PATIENTS. MY EVEN STOMACH IS NOT DUE TO SWELLING, MY LIPOSUCTION WAS SIMPLY DONE UNEVEN

      Business Response

      Dear BBB,

Beautologie stands by our commitment to patient satisfaction, and will deeply discount additional surgery if the surgeon agrees it may help and the possible benefit outweighs the possible risk. $500 covers just the operating room and anesthesia fees. The surgeon does not charge the patient anything in these situations for the additional surgery they are performing as good faith compromise to ensure the patient feels we did our best. We do not charge $509 for anything at Beautologie so we are not sure where this amount comes from.

It is worth noting this patient has not submitted any documentation from other surgeons, photos of her before and after results, photos or documentation of anything she is accusing the practice of. We are admitting no malpractice, wrongdoing or issues with providing this patient excellent care and realistic results.

In order to settle this matter, we will agree to refund $500 to the patient. She should reach out to our Fresno Practice Manager, ***** at ************ and refer to the BBB resolution when requesting this refund.

      Thank you.

On July 2016 I went to Beautologie Cosmetic Surgery and got a surgery for breast augmentation and a Tummy tuck. On the day of my consultation I was told that everything was normal and I was a good candidate. One month later on the day of my recheck my b****** were quite inflamed but that it was normal after receiving a breast augmentation. Six months after the surgery I went in for another consult because my b****** were still inflamed, painful, and I was running a fever. The surgeon that performed my procedure Informed me that it was normal to have some inflammation and recommended that I perform various breast massages that would help the implant descend into a normal position. One year later, the implant on my right breast had not dropped. I went back to again with this issue and the surgeon stated that the implant would eventually descend into a normal position. Time passed by and I got some health issues that required some surgeries and testing unrelated to the breast implant, throughout this time, the right implant still had not dropped and the pain on both b****** persisted. In 2019 I went back for another consultation, the surgeon took some pictures of my b****** and admitted that my breast implants were not placed correctly, he informed me that another surgery would be needed to fix the issue but unfortunately the ******19 pandemic started. During the pandemic, multiple locations were closed and I was never contacted back from Beautologie regarding my surgery date. We attempted contacting the surgeon multiple times during the past years and even sent pictures of issue that persisted. Now its 2023, I went back to Beautologie and they informed me that the surgeon that performed my procedure was no longer working there but they would contact me with a a surgery date. It has been 3 weeks and I have not received a call back. I have gone back and forth with a few people at Beautologie asking for a resolution but they have not been helpful.

       Dear BBB,

At her routine follow-up, this patient was noted to have a common postoperative concern and we met with her to discuss options in 2016. There are no notes as to the positioning of the implant, nor fever. At that time the patient chose not to move forward with the plan to assist with her concern. The patient again reached out to us via email and phone on 1/30/20 and 5/8/20 respectively and at neither time did the patient return our messages to schedule an appointment as her surgeon had retired.

Patient walked into our practice on 9/19/23 and was seen by a surgical coordinator who reviewed her chart and discussed with the patient. Patient is now interested in a completely new and  additional surgical procedure and this was explained to the patient. She waited so long to move forward with the plan to address her original complaint that her warranty had expired.

This was all brought to management's attention and we have discussed the options with the patient. We have offered to remove her implants and not charge a surgeon's fee and only a nominal charge to cover our operating room expenses which is $500. We are also working with patient to discount the new, unrelated procedure she is requesting.

Beautologie would like to be clear that this was a common post-op concern that was not related to the surgeon's skill or anything wrong with the implants themselves. We want all of our patients to be happy and therefore are working closely with the patient to help her achieve the results she is looking for. As of recent communication, 10/12/23, the patient seemed satisfied with our efforts to resolve her concerns.

On November 17, 2022, Dr. *** ******** preformed a routine tummy tuck and breast implant exchange. The total cost of the surgery was $13,500.00, however, from the beginning I notice that the tummy tuck scar was too high. I brought this to the attention of the nurses and Nurse practitioners during follow-up visits, however, I felt very brushed off. They just told me to wait for more healing and to continue with diet and exercise. I never heard from Dr. ******** after the surgery not ever to check up on me. Finally I was 2 month post-op and still was not happy with my results, i.e., tummy tuck scar and my belly button was not centered as well as not looking like a belly button. So I demanded to see Dr. ******** but had to wait 2 more month to see him. At this point I was 5 month post-op. On March 20th 2023, I finally met with Dr. ******** to voice my concerns about my results. He agreed that my tummy tuck scar was high and offered to correct it. He also mention that my belly button was thickened, but did not offer a solution, nor did he address the fact that it was not centered on my stomach. He agree to preform a revision of the tummy tuck scar but to wait until August so that my skin could relax. After my visit I did research on tummy tuck revision surgery and did not feel comfortable letting him preform a revision. After meeting with another Dr. whom has many years experience preforming these types of revisions, I informed Beautologie that I wanted them to compensate me for the cost of a revision tummy tuck surgery and pain/suffering. They responded initially but when I told them that I wanted to communicate through email they stopped responding.

It is our steadfast commitment to uphold the highest standards of patient education, communication, and transparency. In the realm of plastic cosmetic surgery, we consistently take measures to ensure that our patients are well-informed about the potential outcomes of their procedures. This includes detailed education as well as a comprehensive review of the related consents, all of which encompass a thorough understanding of both "UNSATISFACTORY RESULTS" and our detailed "REVISION POLICY." These pivotal aspects are conscientiously discussed and acknowledged through formalized documentation prior to any procedure.

The core objective of all our plastic surgery treatments and operations is to enhance a patient's condition, resolve issues, or enhance appearance. While we maintain an exceptional success rate, it is imperative to acknowledge that, on rare occasions, certain results might not align perfectly with initial expectations. In these situations, we recognize the necessity of secondary procedures or alternative treatments to optimize the final outcome.
In light of this, our management team has taken proactive steps in addressing the concerns raised by *********. We have maintained an open and transparent line of communication, aiming to fully comprehend her perspective and provide an effective resolution. We have actively attempted to facilitate a consultation between ********* and her surgeon regarding her revision request.
Regrettably, ********* has conveyed her decision to abstain from pursuing the available revision policy to discuss her concerns. While we respect her choice, we remain resolute in our commitment to serving the best interests of all our patients. Our management team is readily available to support ********* through this process, should she reconsider her stance and decide to explore the opportunity to meet with her surgeon and address her concerns directly.
Our dedication to patient care and satisfaction remains. We recognize the importance of addressing any concerns that arise and endeavor to ensure a positive and constructive experience for each of our patients.

      Sincerely,

      Hello,

I am unable to attach all of the call records but we have made several phone calls to the patient along with emails and sms communication. This patient reported to us she was undergoing surgery at another office but the offer was still available to discuss the revision with our surgeon, Dr. *** ********.

This patient, on more than one occasion, mentioned if we met her demands whe would not post or remove reviews. This was noted in a letter she noted to be written at the direction of her lawyer. If the patient has retained counseL our protocol is to deal with the attorneys moving forward through our legal department. She attached the letter in her complaint.

I am attaching portions of the signed consents which do show our financial and revision policies. Patient did phone our office today to schedule an appointment so maybe she is more willing to see what her options are with us at this time. As of now we are not sure f what she is looking to do. Please reach out should you have any further questions or seek additional documents.

      Thank you for your time.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 08/31/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

I have Not retained counsel for this issue but was advised that writing a letter would be a good idea in the possibility of settling this matter privately, so no lawyer is retained in this matter. I was just advised to write a letter to express my concerns.

And yes, I did proceed with revision surgery elsewhere because not only did I not have faith in Dr. ********’s surgical ability to correct something that he caused, I did not receive not one phone call of concern from him after my appointment with him on March 20th, 2023. At which time he recommended seeing me again in August, however, when I called to confirm this appointment I was told that the appointment was to see the nurse practitioner. I was not going to waist my time again seeing someone who was just going to take pictures.

In regards to the call records those were from before I had surgery so not sure how those help and most of those calls are from me. You don’t have other communication records because there are none mostly it was me trying to communicate with your office. In the last email of communication that you included from August 3rd that was the last communication I heard from your office. I waited until late August (23rd), and had no response so I figured our office was not interested in working this out. And so I proceeded to report to the BBB like I said I would. See that is what I am saying about your office there is a lack of communication until I went to the BBB. I am still willing to resolve this matter as mentioned.

And I understand your financial and revision policies, but that should not be a ticket to do shitty work. And that’s what happened here. Your revision policy states that “All plastic surgery treatments are preformed to improve a condition, a problem or appearance”, but my appearance was NOT improve but diminished. I was not fat or over weight but just had some loose skin from child barring. Also, I am concerned that the document titled financial Policies has the beginning of my signature but then the rest is blurred out. I remember having to go into your office to sign some documents in after I had surgery. Is this one of them? What is the date this was signed? Also, I just want to make note that although I sighed the document titled “Alternatives” it stated that I had a consultation with Dr. ********, however, I never did since the first time he saw me was the day of the surgery. Furthermore, I would like to mention it is stated that the dr. And nursing staff have explained the risks in detail, but of course that not true they just give you paperwork to read so that you aren’t discouraged from them getting what they want. MONEY!

And that is what I want to, my money back. I called the office to on Monday to try and set up a time to discuss this matter and see if we can come up a way to resolve this but was told I would get a call back. Instead I received and email from someone at beautologie say that they have reached out to Dr. ******** and would get back to me. This was on August 28th.

Please see my **** review dated 2/18/2023. I paid in 3 installment a total of $9500. for cosmetic surgery. I have not received the surgery because their doctor deemed me medically unfit for surgery in their setting. They said I should be done in a hospital for safety. They do not do surgery in the hospital setting, only in their surgery center which keeps costs down for patients. I did not cancel the surgery, they did. They knew in January that they were not going to do my surgery yet they still asked me for more testing to see if I qualified. I filled out their medical information in October stating I had mitral valve prolapse and my age of 67. They have known all along. It wasn't until I paid in full that they deemed me unfit for the surgery. They wanted cardiac clearance and I was able to get my insurance to order a EKG and an Echocardiogram which I got and they still said no. Now they say my full refund is coming but I have not received it. Please see attached paperwork

We spoke to the patient this morning. She stated she did not think she was going to get refunded although we informed her it would. We informed patient that her safety is our primary concern and we wanted to make sure that we did all we could for her before we made the final decision on her options. Patient was pleased and happy to hear, she was under the impression that we were holding her money hostage and that is why she started her "campaign" leaving bad reviews.

We informed her that is not what we do, we just wanted to make sure we exhausted all the efforts to see if her procedure could happen for her. We also apologized for the office staff not reaching back out to her within a reasonable timeframe. We processed her original form of payments as follows:  $5,500.00 was refunded back with one transition, the second $3,000.00 payment was refunded back to the other method of payment. We are processing the additional refund of $1,000.00 but this must be done via terminal. Patient seemed to be agreeable and satisfied with the full refund of each of her payments and resolution.

9/21/2021 i underwent a mommy makeover procedure, tummy tuck, muscle repair, implants and lipo flanks and bra roll area. i began to have issues with my belly button, my hips and my back when he seen no changes. I paid 13,000.00 for original surgery with dr **** these were his recommendations on what i needed to have done after consulting with the doctor and cordinators. Dr then recommended i had a revision for my back this time with renuvion and lipo and that i would have the results i wanted that was done on 2/15/2022 we paid $3125.00 for that surgery Right away we had 0 results again we were told to wait trust the process and that it takes a year so we tried to wait and be patient, we then had a appointment with the dr to discuss what can be done again for the 3rd time and mentioned my dog ears on my hips where i had excess skin and mentioned my belly button again to him, they told me that my back was skin and i would have to see another dr which was gonna cost me another 10k for back lift, the hips were fine and that he lipo the area and wasn’t gonna do more work there and that my belly button they were gonna send me to do laser treatments. We then left a yelp review complaining about the issues and how we felt we should not pay anything lord to them, they then reached out trying to offer the surgery for my back at a reduced cost which we paid enough to them and felt we shouldn’t pay anything more again, then they offered me a refund for the revision of $3125 i told them i wanted the other $1000 as well from original and they then stated no, then said to refund the 3125 i needed to remove all hell reviews and negative reviews posted online, then to sign a non disclosure contract then i told them i didn’t want the money or anything from them and i posted my story with photos and screenshots about the situation letting the public know what was going on, then they commented on my social media page leaving false information on my page with my medical info.

This patient underwent a successful liposuction procedure and simply has loose skin, which I warned her about many times before the surgery.
She is unhappy with her loose skin, which is a known thing with lipo and also she was wanted about this many times and also signed a consent form that details this as a possibility after any liposuction procedure
To maintain good customer relations, we offered to refund her as a sign of goodwill, but she went ahead and posted to every social media site to ruin our reputation for no reason.
We said we would only refund her if she removed her false and damaging reviews, otherwise, there is no basis for her to get a courtesy refund.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/14/2022

      Dear BBB,

We are sharing her public 5-star reviews and photos she posted to our review sites after her procedure. She was very happy with her results, so much so, she boasted with photos.

Patients need to understand liposuction alone will not remove loose skin and that gaining weight after surgery will also cause the body to change. We have offered her multiple refunds, including recently $5000 but she is looking for more as she would like to have more procedures at this point.

We have been more than fair and generous but this patient has decided to continue posting negative reviews and encouraging her friends and family to do the same.

Thank you for mediating this on our behalf.

I am rejecting this response because:

      Hello,
In my response to the claim, again i was satisfied with my breast, part of my tummy but again not my back or my dog ear hips and belly button that is why there is no photos about that they had known this has been an ongoing situation that i wanted corrected and fixed i have multiple emails and messages regarding my concerns from a few months after surgery, at first i was told trust the process you are swollen it takes a year for things to heal and be final and that’s what i did was waiting like they continued to tell me, i would go into my check ups addressing these concerns many times and i know that is all in my medical file, the fact is you guys don’t care at all!! my visit where i had my consultation with my original doctor at my check up is where doctors recommendation to fix and correct was a revision on my back where i had to pay again i was never told anything about loose skin til after my revision or i never would have proceeded with that procedure i asked about a back lift multiple times or what was needed and i took doctor’s recommendation and booked my revision, i was told that they would be doing laser treatments on my belly button i never received those, then after my check up and even after my revision i still  had concerns about my back because i still had 0 results even after the revision i expressed the concerns multiple times, that is when i also was told my dog ears required another surgery a extended tummy tuck and same with my back something completely different a back lift all at my expense, so yes i do require more surgery’s to get those issues that dr did not correct fixed and corrected from another doctor. Dr **** should have never recommended surgery’s that we’re not needed if they were going to just recommend multiple other surgery’s again after that and take my money that is a form of malpractice they don’t care about there patients at all, the revision was the promise from my doctor that the surgery he performed was going to correct the issues that was not properly done the first time, the fact you say lose skin is the issue then why was a second procedure done doing lipo again if you knew it was not going to fix the issue? This has happened to multiple other patients as well who have the same issues. I had told jessica yesterday that it was unfair to ask for all the money back for the entire procedure and to just refund me for my entire revision along worth the lipo from first procedure and half the price of tummy tuck. I originally went to you guys ti correct these things and you refused to fix any of it i am the one who has to deal with depression and another surgery again, taking time away from work my husband as well to care for me and to have the embarrassment of being botched by this doctor because they failed on there end and fail to give me my money back without there form of  blackmail to remove things and to being blocked from posting my public opinions to them or about them, there lies on my post saying they refunded me out of good faith when there has been 0 refund and posting my public hippa information and discussing my medical situations is a disgrace on there end and then hiding the truth about there work from others or any negative reviews or comments from all there patients, no one should have to go threw this with a place and doctor they trusted in.
