On June 8, I entered into a contract for five kitchen cabinets and installation with *********************************** of Robertos Cabinets. **************** was shown my bathroom cabinets and told to match the cabinets, match the quality of the cabinet, and use the same **** slides and hinges. He was given a drawing with the cabinet sizes. **************** assured me he could match the cabinets and do the work.On July 4, 2022, **************** partially delivered the cabinets with major flaws: a cabinet was the wrong size, drawers did not open properly, doors did not open properly, missing pieces, gaps in the finishing, and many other problems. Robertos Cabinets has been in business for many years. Unfortunately, the skilled workers have left the company and cabinets delivered to me had too many problems to been made by someone with experience. Robertos Cabinets has made three attempts at completing the installation and is unable to repair cabinets or deliver the missing pieces. There is an additional $1,000 to be paid upon completion of the contract, but both parties know the work to complete the repairs, and installation far exceeds the remaining $1,000 in the contract.I am asking for a refund of the $9,000 I paid Robertos Cabinets so that I can have the cabinets built by a different cabinet maker. I tried getting other contractors to make the corrections and complete the installation, but nobody was interested in doing the repairs. Repairs are 3 to 5 times more expensive than building the cabinets correctly the first time. For the delivered cabinets, there are so many mistakes that it is cheaper to call it a total loss and start over with a new cabinet maker. It is also less risky as the cabinets are to have a natural stone countertop installed ($2,000). Once the countertop is installed, it is not practical to remove it to work on the cabinets, so the cabinets have to be final before the countertops.
