Lease No ***** Crossroads Lease and Finance - **************** I paid off the truck loan 10/10/2023. That time the weekly truck payment was still ON. Therefore, $254.44 was overpaid after payoff.I received the Title and then I called them for a refund. However, nothing happened.The representative answered " They are waiting for the approval " Every time I called them ( almost 6-7 times so far ), they gave me the same answer.I want a refund from themBusiness response

6/24/23 Paid $75.00 for used clothes. 2 purses and a dress, at a resale store. Crossroads has very Over priced things and you have to search for affordable things in their store. They raised their prices dramatically in the last year.Without my knowing I was charged a, $2.26, living wage tax!!! And, in a resale clothing store!!!!! Not a service type restaurant!!!Its not the dollar amount but the principle!!! Its screwed up because I am a hard working person and feel like every dollar counts these days and to charge people this tax without reason or knowing is fraudulent and its not right I want a full refund and I dont ever want to shop there again. They do not even offer refunds only store credit. They buy peoples used clothes for pennys on the dollar and sell them for a 80% mark up then charge a 3% living wage tax too!!!Sounds illegal and if its not, it should be.Business response

Reached out to customer via phone and email. Customer responded via email. Offered a refund of the surcharge as a courtesy for the surprise, as well as a refund for all items purchased if they wished. Attached is customer response denying any refund and saying the complaint could be closed. I've also attached our surcharge disclaimer signage that is posted at each Point of Sale as well as throughout our store and in fitting rooms. The company felt this was the easiest way to be transparent about the charge without outright telling every single customer that is rung up. The charge is to ensure competitive and living wages across the board for the company, without arbitrarily raising our prices as we are not a traditional retail store that can just raise the *** price of a praticular item by $1-2 to deal with increased operation costs. While Crossroads' clothing price has gone up over the years, so has everything else and our average price point remains well below most retail stores at $22-$24 and remains a deal for our customers to get the best brands at the best price, oftentimes well for under an 1/8 of the original retail. We also pay directly to our customers that sell to us either 50% store credit or 30% cash of whatever we price their items to sell - there is no markup or pennies on the dollar. If we buy a shirt from a customer that we set to sell at $24, the customer chooses between $12 trade or $7.20 in cash, a direct translation of 50% or 30% respectively. Thank you.Customer response

Today I went shopping at crossroads on ********* in **. I spent 45mins to an hour shopping and I proceeded to the counter to make my purchase. My **** was $82.36, I took out a $100 to pay when the clerk informed me that they dont accept old Bill's. I asked why, he told me it's their policy not to accept $100 Bill's that are not new. I asked for a sign that s tree dates so,h said they didn't have one. I informed him it's a LEGAL TENDER and that means I can use it as a form of payment, but he refused and said it's their policy.i highly doubt what they are doing is legal. We spend over an hour shopping only to be told the money is not valid. I find that unacceptable. Please help with verification of this practise. I had to find a newer **** to pay.Business response

Hi,
This complaint was sent to the Berkeley Location at **** ********, however, the complaint being mentioned seems to have happened in our ************* Location in ** at ******************************************; The location is unable to take larger monetary bills for several reasons. 1. We are a buy, sell, trade, consign business, so we are handing cash out daily to our sellers, so we are unable to break larger bills as we primarily work smaller payouts to our customers. 2. due to the location of the store and the overall safety of our employees during these times we do not take larger bills. Unfortunately the area is a high crime area with daily theft, robbery and falsification of older bills. As victims to these crimes ourselves, we chose to keep our staff safe as best as possible. We always explain this to our customers as well as provide resources to the closest ATMs and banks that are located next door at Walgreen's and the bank across the street. As well, we hold items to be purchased for customer for up to 24 hours as an option. Our employees safety is at upmost importance during these times and we apologize that we were not more clear with this customer. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

While the response was lengthy it never addressed my complaint.A) They do take large Bill's because they ended up taking my $100 **** from a newer print, so that's not true.B) High Crime: They are surrounded by over 20 businesses that are operational and do take those bills.C) Counterfeit: As with all monies I'm sure they have or should device a plan or instrument that assists with that.Any **** can be counterfeit it's not only reserved for $100 Bill's.My complaint is it's not acceptable to deny purchase because you're using a note from an older print. EVERY NOTE has a line that states "This note is legal TENDER for ALL DEBTS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE." Which means you should be able to use it to make purchases and the likes without the date of print being an issue.What they are doing is NOT legally okay. It pauses alot of inconvenience that's not necessary. It is my HOPE they rectify this mistake sooner than later.Thank you.*****************************.**********Customer response
