On August 18th, 2022 I was charged $586.28 for a 5 night stay at the Berkeley inn on ******************************************************************. Check in date for August 17th. My flight was supposed to get there at 11 pm, but was delayed. I arrived at the ******* airport around 2 am. I then got to Berkeley around 3:30 am. No one was at the hotel, so I was unable to check in. I have friends in the area so I spent the night sleeping on the floor at a friends house. After I was done with the day I headed to the hotel at 6pm on Aug 18th. When I arrived the front desk person told me they canceled my stay. I explained I prepaid the full amount. He said does not matter they sold my room. I told him I paid already and that I just want to stay the remaining of my booking. He told me he has no rooms and he sold my room. I asked if I can get a refund then. He said I can't get refunded for the first night but I will get the money back for the remaining nights. I asked how I was getting charged for the hotel as if I stayed there but somehow my room was already sold. He said that is how it works. I am writing this complaint because if someone prepays for a hotel for 5 nights who cares if I sleep there or not. Just because I was unable to show up early enough to check in due to something out of my control they charge me the night and sell my room that very night? How can they charge one night but not let me stay at the room I prepaid 5 nights for when I show up the next day. They just keep charging me nights until I show up so they can explain they sold my room already? I complained to the front desk and he said they called & emailed me which is all they have to do to sell my room. I explained I never got a call or email. I asked if they can provide proof they reached out to me and they said no. Due to this horrible business practice I had to book a hotel last minute when all hotel prices for the same day were nearly double. I want a refund for all nights. They did not let me stay at my prepaid room.

I made a reservation (reservation#**********) for 3 nights stay (July 16 - 19, 2022) at the Berkeley Inn through Booking.com, and prepaid the full amount of $302.33. The hotel promised to be a clean and comfortable experience for its guests, but when I arrived at the hotel I found the room to be unacceptable; ***** water droplets and dead bugs on the walls in the bathroom, dirty walls, sticky floor covered with dirt and hair, hairs found in the bed, and in stained, folded towels, microwave rusted completely through, and people smoking weed in the parking lot during the day, and in the stairwell at night. There was nothing clean or comfortable about my stay there.Manager says that he cannot control what people do on his property, but agreed that my complaints were valid and that the room was unacceptable. Still he refused to give even a partial refund (booked 3 nights, only stayed 1) since booking was not directly with the hotel. He said that I needed to have the room canceled by the booking agent before he could give me a refund. Booking.com told me that only the hotel could cancel the reservation and give me a refund. I left after 1 night, without a refund, and with no resolution from the hotel manager. I need a refund of a $201.55 for the remaining 2 nights to resolve this issue.
