Hello, I am an authorized representative of the complainant whose details are on the previous page. The email address is mine, as the complainant has no email address. I am filing this complaint for, and at the request of, my elderly friend who has written three children's books and was searching for a publisher to distribute those books. She found Word Art Publishing and signed three contracts with them, one for each book, on January 17, 2022. The titles are: "Tidewater ***," "Once in a Lifetime," and "Big Time Bear." The books went into production, which was a long and arduous process. Eventually, after shelling out more than $4000, the complainant received approximately twenty books. Since the books were published, she has received no information regarding her book sales or royalty payments. Her phone calls to ***********************, ********************************* **************) who is the publisher's senior marketing manager, have gone unanswered now for several weeks. I have likewise emailed him repeatedly with no results. The publisher's contract states that the fees paid are non-refundable after work on the book is started, so I am not sure if my friend can obtain any kind of refund at this point. What she wants at this time is for the publisher to inform her if they have sold any of her books, and if so, what royalties she is owed for those books. They should have some kind of dashboard where this information is easily available, but they seem to be ignoring her now that they have gotten her money. They took an awfully large amount of money from her in return for just a handful of books. Can you please prod Word Art Publishing to contact the complainant at her provided number and give her the information she is requesting? And if you cannot address this for some reason, would you be able to direct the complainant to an appropriate agency who can?Thank you very much for your attention to this matter.
