I enrolled in the Academy for Dog Trainers in 08/2020 but have been on hiatus in the program until recently. I paid $6,825 for this course, which advertises itself as a challenging course in the best practices in dog training and client coaching. Instead, I found that this program features dated training plans, lectures recorded at an indeterminate date in the past (seemingly the distant past), and little-to-no guidance from staff in the program. I also pointed out the many out-of-date strategies in the 30-year-old training plans, explained my qualms with them, and suggested solutions that would be more agreeable to me, only to be rejected without any apparent consideration. I initially requested that my registration fee be transferred to another trainer who would not mind wasting their time on pointlessly frustrating training plans but that was denied. I would like a full refund of my tuition as this program was falsely advertised as teaching the best ways to train dogs and coach people and that there would be 1:1 support from staff, when in fact I had basically no support from staff and all the course materials are extremely outdated.Initial Complaint

I signed up for a course with The Academy for Dog Trainers to start in August. I have completed 4 months of the course. Due to both the quality of the course and my own personal reasons, I no longer want to finish the course. I paid $7,525 for a 24 month course which is supposed to include 1-1 staff time. I have used 0 1-1 staff time and completed 0 assignments. I was told by the owner that not only will I not receive a refund, no one ever receives a refund, or the business would not be viable. This says to me that they are operating on the backs of people who were dissatisfied and are not operating ethically. This is a considerable amount of money and I am sure others have lost their savings on what they thought was a potential career path due to these unethical practices.I am seeking a refund for $6,271--my total less the 4 months I was in the course. I have had no resolution from the business owner and also extremely cold emails with regards to this. This was my life savings and it is incredibly sad to me that she won't negotiate a refund in good faith. I think it is bad business practice and predatory.
