I took my puppy that's a runt to their clinic about a month ago. I was told that he had x-rays and iv fluids as well as an enema. When I picked my puppy up the vet showed me some poop in a ziplock bag that she said was his after his enema. She went on to prescribe some antibiotics, laxative, and iodine to put on his bottom with a warm compress. She said that he was very constipated. My pups anal sac had ruptured and poop was coming out. I did not know that was not normal so I continue to nurse him back to health and it began to close up at that point. The pup was only 2 lbs. He was not able to clean himself like a normal puppy because he was pretty much still developing. I was told by the vet that he had anal stricture where his anal canal was small and would require routine enemas. Well, I was unable to continue taking care of the puppy as I was returning to work from Winter Break so I rehomed him to another pet owner. I was completely honest with the other owner as to what I was dealing with. I also gave him all of the paper work I received from his vet and gave him the contact information of the vet so that he can also call and get information as well. That pet owner also had the same issues with him not pooping to the point where his bottom had become very swollen and the other anal sac had ruptured as well. The new pet owner had to take the puppy to the clinic where they said his condition was life threatening. Come to find out he was born without a rectum. I am not sure how the vet at Cal City Pet Clinic did not see that and how were they able to give him an enema if he doesn't have a rectum. The new owner had to give the pup up to Wagmor Pets Dog Rescue that helps repair and foster disabled dogs. This rescue relies on donations to function. I am grateful new owner was able to get him more help but not without losing a lot of money over it because I was either misinformed or lied to because they wanted to make money. I would like to be compensated.
