Had them out today to quote a new tankless water heater. They were to change out a similar model which has the same footprint and fitting. The exchange unit was available at ********** for under $1200.00. I have many years experience with contracting. Labor should not have been more than 3-4 hours maximum. They quoted over $7000.00 for job. I am elderly and I feel they played me for old and stupid. There bad, I am old but not stupid, the profit on the job would have been over $5000.00 Have hired another plumber with contractors lic. to do the job for under $1800.00 including all parts and labor.

Shysters....Shysters...Shysters These people have absolutely no shame, taking full advantage of my elderly parents. Mom 85, Dad 90 and Dad has Alzheimer's. Mom taken in by the sales pitch of 'preventive maintenance' and feeling some how obligated, called back for a simple maintenance inspection. I find that Power Pros had cut and jackhammered a 4x4 hole in the concrete walkway of the house. There was never any signs of damage or leakage anywhere inside or outside of the house, I was in shock. Asked Mom what happened and she was told by the Power Pros technician there was root damage to the out going sewer line. Dad with Alzheimer's didn't remember anything. So of course I needed to see the paper work, Mom and Dad where so confused they couldn't remember what they had done with the estimate. So I called Power Pros Cerritos office to find out about the estimate and try to get a logical explanation, After receiving the $4000.00 estimate I was shocked again. My Dad signed the estimate electronically on Saturday the 2nd which I'm sure added to his confusion, but in the estimate it states that my parents have a 'Three Day Right To Cancel' and they started work on Monday morning the 4th less then two days after he signed, not giving my parents enough time to exercise their right to the 'Three Day Right To Cancel' especially when it was Preventive Maintenance with no real urgency. I decide to call a local HB plumber, I told him about the situation and he had heard of Power Pros and they're notoriously bad reputation. Since he was a local plumber and a nice guy he came over with two of his technicians. They ran a scope down the drain line from the house to the street and determined that there was no damage to the sewer pipe and no apparent work had been done to the pipe. The bottom line is: I don't like people trying to take advantage of my parents, who have always been honest hard working folks. It's not good business taking advantage of people, especially the elderl

      To: Power Pro Plumbing

      From: **** *******

I'm not very happy with the most recent work done at my property at 405 Paseo de las Estrellas. I live out of state so I couldn't see the problem but my daughter lives there and was handling it.

I had a leak in the copper re-pipe (I had done quite a while ago) in April 2021 which was on a straight piece of pipe. The charge was for $385. I thought that was reasonable.

In August 2021, another leak appeared, this time on an elbow. I was quoted $800 to fix this leak as "it is harder to repair". Communicating through my daughter via messaging, I said after this, we should consider replacing all the old copper pipe with PEX (under the house) as it is clearly defective or worn out. She mentioned this to your plumber, and he said "We can do PEX" and quoted her $3000 to do it. Again, I thought that was reasonable to replace all the old copper.

I was just out at the house and inspected the work. What was actually done was that he replaced a short run (maybe 6 feet) of both cold and hot water pipe with PEX and one run of hot water (maybe 10 feet) with PEX. That's it.

Using Home Depot as a source, I get:

      6 - Brass fittings at $2.27 each for a total of $13.62
22 feet of PEX tubing at $0.37/foot for a total of $8.14
Total material (not included solder and gas) of $21.76

Total charge was $300 deposit and final charge of $2675 for a total of $2975

He did have to make two trips and put a "temporary patch" on it the first day and came back the next day to finish. She said he had a helper the second time. I don't know how you calculate your labor time, but just using an hour the first trip and 2.5 hours the second day, That comes to roughly $842 an hour.

There was nothing on the invoice that describes the work to be completed. And it certainly wasn't a re-pipe of all the old copper I was expecting.

I therefore do not recommend this company for any work.
