Air Tech Environmental came following a water damage incident in my home caused by a burst pipe under my shower head. Xact Restoration, called in Air Tech Environmental. Initially, I didnt contact Air Tech directly; they seemed to have coordinated with the insurance company after being called in by Xact Restoration. The complication arose after the completion of asbestos demolition in my home. Observing some black stains at the base of the wall, I grew concerned about potential mold and reached out to Xact Restoration. They assured me a technician would visit to inspect the issue without any charge. True to their word, Air Tech technicians arrived the next day. My brother, the homeowner, who has been recovering from a stroke for the past two years, met them. Unaware of their separate company identity, he signed a document they presented, unknowingly authorizing Air Tech to perform further work. Air Tech's subsequent actions have been a source of significant frustration. They conducted asbestos sampling in the walls, a service that seemed redundant since we already knew the walls contained asbestos from previous tests. However, Air Tech proceeded without providing any cost estimate, likely under the assumption that the insurance would cover it. Meanwhile, Forte Environmental, another asbestos remediation company, sent an estimate for demolishing the walls in the affected area, which I declined, knowing that insurance would no longer cover these services. The main issue I have with Air Tech is their insistence on charging us for these unsolicited services. They billed us around $1250, including a $700 visit fee, for the asbestos sampling and tests services that we neither directly requested nor were informed about in terms of costs. *** tried explaining this situation to Air Tech representatives multiple times, but they continue to assert their right to charge for these unrequested services.
