I used this moving company on two occasions tied to a single cross-country move. Our move required one full moving van for the bulk of the first part of the move and then a half-van for the balance. The incident occurred on the second part of the move. On this occasion the driver/owner made a verbal agreement with my wife and I that the move would cost a flat fee of $9,500. For the first part of the move I received a "Combined Agreement For Moving Services and Freight Bill" listing all expected costs, but did not ask for nor receive the same for the second part of the move. The incident I am lodging a complaint for is that the driver/owner added a $855.00 charge to the agreed-upon price. He would not state what this charge was for other than "I am allowed to add on up to 15% to the total cost for any reason". He stated it was a "fuel surcharge". I debated with him that we had a verbal agreement but he would not agree to eliminate the added fee. I paid the $855.00 via check directly to the driver/owner on 9/28/2022 concerned that he would not release our load without payment. He did comment to me that his tailgate was damaged in the move and that the trip had costed him much more than expected. I feel he added this fee to cover the cost of his damaged truck which had nothing to do with our move. I would like to be reimbursed for the added $855.00

Hello - I have just confirmed the business address I initially provided BBB is no longer accurate. The current address is: *************************************************************. Contact phone: ************. I may have also provided an incorrect ***** number. The proper number is ****** with MC number ******. Thus company has changed addressed many times and company letterhead is also inaccurate, so very hard for consumers to confirm correct information about them.

We are aware of this claim, the person that handle this move was out of town. We need more time to gather all the information to respond and submit proof of documents signed by ************** in regards to the fuel surcharge.
We are requesting 30 more days.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept this response. The cost of diesel fuel in the three months preceding the move had decline more than $1.00 per gallon as indicated by the U.S. ********************************** The $850 surcharge was actually meant to be used to make repairs to the owner's trailer which was damaged by his employees. There is no reason for any surcharges as a fixed price of $9,500 was made for the move. The response is just a stall tactic used many times by the owner to avoid a refund. His many negative reviews on Yelp and elsewhere prove he is unscrupulous and should not be in any business that provides a public service. He is a consumer predator that should be taken out of business. Regardless of the financial outcome of this complaint I request my complaint go on formal record with this BBB so other consumers can view this case and be better protected.
