I purchased headers from Summit Racing in October 2019.. ***** with Gibson confirmed they are the largest retailer that sells their headers. Recently I found that the header from the passenger side of the engine has a crack almost completely around the tubing located near the weld before the outlet. While the weld itself did not fail an improper weld can weaken the metal next to the weld resulting in fatigue cracks as I have here. These headers have approximately ****** miles on them. When contacting Summit Racing for a warranty claim I was told Gibson handles their warranty issues in house. It was then that I contact Tech support with Gibson and talked with *****. He stated that these headers they no longer make since the chroming of the headers is what weakens it not the incorrect weld. He also stated that these particular headers had not been made for over 10 years due to the issues they had. I find this to be odd that they would not inform their largest retailer of these issues. I was only offered the option to pay an additional $ ****** plus ***** for shipping if I wanted to replace my broken header. I not sure how this is explains the misrepresentation of a lifetime warranty if I am basically having to buy the header again that broke due to the quality of the build. I see from other blogs that this is a common product issue they have an a common deceptive tactic they use to get you to spend more money instead of honoring their warranty. This makes them look terrible and also will ultimately make Summit Racing suffer as they promote Gibson's products. Their warranty is written in a manner that says to bad so sad if something is wrong and they have no responsibility to fix their inferior poor quality product,.Business response

I purchased a Gibson Black Elite Stainless Steel exhaust system. I paid more for the stainless steel option because it is suppose to be more rust resistant. I purchased it on 3/31/21. It arrived in the beginning of April of 2021. I didn't have it installed until Nov.4th 2021 because I was waiting on headers that I purchased from Underdog racing ( they were on back order and didn't arrive until the end of Oct. 2021 ). My RUST issue with the Gibson exhaust started in March of 2021, I took my 2005 4Runner back to the install shop ( Cherokee Muffler, in Canton Ga. ) we put the truck up on a lift to inspect the exhaust system. You can see from the pictures my 2005 Toyota 4Runner undercarriage is still in excellent condition. My 17yr old factory exhaust that was replaced with Gibson's "elite" system was still in pristine condition when it was removed. Cherokee Muffler told me I got ripped off with the Gibson exhaust and explained that if it was truly a stainless system it wouldn't have rusted this fast, especially down south! After extensive research I found out this is a well know issue with Gibson's stainless steel, they are aware of it and will NOT cover rust issues under their warranty. As a consumer I feel misled and ripped off. Had I known this was an issue I wouldn't have purchased their defective product. This system rusted within months of installation. I would like a refund! I contacted Gibson via their email portal this Oct. 2022 and provided an invoice number with my contact info and NEVER heard word one. I feel taken advantage of and ignored by this business.
