We went to H.B. Diesel 12/6/22 for an oil change. Later *** (the owner) called & said a brake job was needed so we had it done. The work was finished 12/7/22 for $1,475.15. *** said that the brakes were going to sound strange because he used Power Stop Extreme brake pads which are used on tow trucks. When we were having some ** work done in June 2023, the mechanic took the van out & noticed a strange sound. When he got underneath the van he saw the driver side (ds) rear rotor & brake pad were destroyed. My son was in the hospital so I wasn't able to do much with this information until Aug but everything was documented before any work was done. We had the mechanic that did the ** work change out the rear brake pads and rotor. On 8/10/23 my son (*****) called & talked to *** & asked him how much to drain the green coolant & change over to the gold coolant based on the year, make, & model of my van. *** said it would be a minimum of $347 to a maximum of $856. He also asked for a price on transmission ************** change. *** said 185 labor, 45 filter, 100 for fluid which totals 330. Then my son told him the van's ds rear rotor & brake pads were destroyed. *** asked if it was at their old location. It was. Then *** said that he used to sublet out brake work to his drunk landlord. **** (shop manager) admitted this as well on 8/10/23 when we went to the shop to show him the parts & the pictures. *** never told us that he sublet out the brake work to his "drunk landlord." He never asked us if it was ok to sublet out the work and it was never documented on the receipt that the work was sublet out. **** said he would subtract $471.50 for the rear brake work from other work we'd have him do. But after **** called *** to get pricing for the radiator, the pricing had suddenly gone up. Instead of $347 it went up to $606 minimum, and the maximum went from $856 up to $1,836. The only way I'm refunded money from the merchant is if I have other work done at an inflated price.
