Date: 4/8/2024 The amount of money you paid the business: $917.48 What the business committed to providing you: Install the clutch, and a free 5-year load test if we transferred our monthly services to them, and there may have been a fraudulent component What the nature of the dispute is: The work was incomplete, and the door did not fully open by 4 to 5 inches. They also failed our test and gave us an estimate of $22,400.00 saying we had to replace the piston when our hydraulics system was upgraded in 2014 (in reserve study) and was misdiagnosed, the true repair was the valve for $6200.00 when we paid for a second opinion of $2000.00 on a pressure test. We paid the other vendor $300 to repair the clutch that they may have left misadjusted on purpose to cover the cost of the so-called "free" load test. There may have been collusion between the elevator inspector and Consolidated, from the recommendations that the city inspector gave us to the impromptu visit on May 16 because Consolidated knew I was coming back at 1:00 AM flight.Whether or not the business has tried to resolve the problem: They did not resolve the problem of the door nor did they respond to any of my emails. We canceled the monthly contract and paid them $308.74 of the remaining $608.74 since the door adjustment costs $300.00. Account/invoice number: ***** If the issue involves advertising, when and where the ad was seen or heard: none We believe that Consolidated overestimated its repair cost. That we did not fail the load test, since they did not shut the elevator down, and ****** of Consolidated told ******************, that the piston "didn't need to be replaced right away." The timing of Consolidated coming from "Covina" shortly after the city inspector came. The back of the city inspector's business card's referral of Consolidated. The timing of Consolidated arriving at our building within 10 minutes, after the city inspector and his referral suggest a possible kickback.Business response

Consolidated Elevator Co.indeed offered this customer a free load test and complimentary door work if the customer moved their service contract to us.
When Consolidated Elevator left the job after the door work was completed the door worked as intended. The property failed the load test, the test consists of putting a full loaded weight in the elevator and visually inspecting with the elevator will drop, among other things tested. This elevator dropped past the allotted distance and failed the test. Consolidated determined the fix for this was a new piston and quoted accordingly. The customer mistakenly thought their hydraulic **** was replaced and it was not hence the quote for the new piston. This can easily be looked up by researching permits pulled. If the customer did get a new **** ******** it illegally without permits and inspections. If the customer replaced the valve, that is a separate job from the piston repair.
Per our contract the customer is not allowed to have another company work on the elevator without our prior permission. This customer had another company work on the ********************** and did not allow us to look at their elevator.
This customer is making serious accusations of collusion and fraud on Consolidateds part and the Elevator Divisions part. This cannot be backed up by any means, the customer against our contract had another company work on the elevator without letting us know and they canceled the contract against our contract rules. Consolidated had no chance to remedy any concerns the customer had. She stated that she was very busy with school and did not have time to talk about the situation, so we waited for her to be completed with school. However, she kept emailing over the weekend.
We have since cancelled the contract with the customer per their request, not sure why she made this complaint. We have proof of emails, texts, and the elevator division to back our side.
