We sent a ********** Beetle 1.8 Turbo engine to Kennys Muffler for a catalytic converter replacement so the car would pass a ********** Smog inspection. The cost of this repair was $500.00 which we paid upon pick up of the vehicle. We took it to smog immediately and it did not pass, we were told to drive it for a bit in order for the monitors to reset. We drove it and noticed it was making noise it didn't make prior to the repair at Kennys Muffler. We first sent it to our mechanic for an inspection where he discovered an oxygen sensor was hanging off the back of the muffler. Next we sent it to another muffler shop and were told the catalytic converter installed was for a 2.0 non-turbo engine which only has 2 oxygen sensors instead of the 3 sensors a 1.8 Turbo has, and that they force installed the 3rd sensor at the back of the muffler which was what our mechanic found hanging off the car and was the cause of the noise and the cause of the check engine light.We took the car back to Kennys Muffler for them to correct the problem and advised them of the inspection results which they admitted it was welded incorrectly and welded it again and sent us on our way. However, that did not fix the problem and the car still wouldn't pass smog, still made noise and check engine light was still on.We have tried to contact them to resolve this matter however we are now blocked from contacting them by phone at all. We simply want them to refund the cost of the repair and we will remove the incorrect part and have the job done by another muffler shop. This has cost us money every day we can't sell the car and this is poor business practices, very unprofessional and is a disappointment after doing business with this company for over 20 years.
