Cypress college started a book pass fall 2023. Its a $100 per semester for this pass. They automatically opt everyone in and if you dont want it you have to opt out. I think it should be the other way everyone is opted out and they can opt in if they choose to do so. I didnt find out about this book pass until one of my professors told the class about it. He said something about opting out of the program, but I didnt know where to go to do that and when I talked to him about it. I was told it might be too late to opt out. Cypress college admissions and records ********************* said that emails were sent out with links in them. However, I didnt see one that semester, there is a potential chance that it was sent to me and I didnt see it and it went in my junk folder, because that is what happened this semester lucky for me I saw it and opted out of the book pass for this semester. In regards to fall 2023, I got on my gateway to pay any fees I owed for spring **** and saw that I was charged for the book pass for fall 2023. I contacted ********************* and he said there was nothing he could do since I didnt opt out of it semester 2023. I talked to ********************* in regards to this and was told that she would talk to the vp to lower the cost to $42. I let her and ********************* know that I didnt use the pass. My chemistry book was a free online book and my nutrition book I bought off of Amazon. I provided a receipt from Amazon and the link to the free chemistry book that I used as proof. However Im being told that I still owe $42 even though I provided proof that I didnt use the pass. I havent pay the $42 yet, because Im hoping that bbb can help me with this. I think its really horrible for a college to opt everyone in to this program. What if you forget to opt out? What if you dont know how to opt out and you get charged anyway for something that you didnt use. Sounds like another sneaky way for colleges to make money. I say opt everyone out and let them choose to opt in
