Hello BBB,On 5/22/22 adopted an 8 week old female pomeranian mix puppy from Davis Animal Rescue. I paid them $785. This was with the understanding $50 was refundable when shown proof of spaying. The puppy vomited as soon as I got her home. She became increasingly ill. I was in contact with *****, ************** at Davis Rescue the entire time I had the puppy. I picked her up Sunday evening and she died 5 days later. I spent over $1200 in vet bills. I did all the suggestions that ***** gave me. I offered to give her the dog to see if she might have more success. She declined. The vet thought the puppy had a liver defect that is common in toy breed dogs. ***** assured me that my $785 would be refunded. She has now refused to answer my texts. I ***** all the paperwork backing up this sad incident. I have offered to take payments. I haven't been refunded anything. Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated. I have enclosed the last text I sent. I have not gotten a response.Thank you!******************* Hi *****, You haven't responded in a while. This has been going on for 6 months now. I am going to share my experience with Davis Rescue online so others won't have a similar experience. I will also contact the better business bureau. I have repeatedly tried working with you. I was sold a sick animal that only lived 5 days after I got her. I have the vet paperwork that confirms she had a congenital sickness. I spent over a thousand dollars on vet care on top of the almost $800 I have paid the rescue. I was promised my adoption fee refunded. This was never done. Please contact your supervisor and make sure this is my only option.

In July of this year *****, we contacted DAR to adopt a dig, Peony, that we had seen on their adoption site. We signed a contract and of $685 cash. Peony was advertised as up to date on shots, good with children and other dogs. I had red flags from the beginning as her ****** mom told me she snapped at a previous couple but chalked it up to nerves. We took her home and things immediately started turning bad. We took her to our vet with the vet records provided to us. She was NOT up to date, rather a sticker for one vaccine was placed on the tag line for the one not given. We spent a total of $265 at the vet for the exam and necessary shots. However, Peony was not the nice dog advertised. She growled and snapped at both my husband and myself. After just a few days I could not enter a room without her waiting to snap by at me. We contacted DAR and made arrangements to return her. We were assured that our money would be returned. The woman I spoke with said she was dealing with her ill mother at the time so made excuses to get back yo me. I was very sympathetic to her situation and was very patient but it became clear that her story was just a ruse and soon there were no answers to my texts, emails or phone calls. I tried contacting the ****** mom and got the same response. We knew we had been defrauded. As of the end of October, Peony is still listed gor adoption( which is higher unusual because these dogs get adopted quickly, esp small ones like Peony). She is still listed as good with children and dogs but will need an experienced dog owner. Obviously, there is more to Peonys problems than with just us. I would like my original adoption fee returned. This dog is an accident waiting to happen and should not be up for adoption to families of any kind. This organization has many bad reviews on the Adopt a Pet site that I wish I had read before. Please help
