Meraz Construction ("contractor") asked more than it should up front as a deposit. On July 08, 2021, the date that the contract was signed, **** Meraz asked for $22,000 as a deposit and an additional $4,500 for the architect on August 13, 2021, all up front. **** Meraz promised to finish the project in about 3 months after the contract was signed on July 08, 2021 but due an error from his architect, all took a lot longer (3 months longer). Meraz's architect made the plans wrong and the plans had to be resubmitted for corrections and re approved by the city which made the process longer than Meraz originally stated. **** Meraz made the plans with his architect and never showed the plans to **** **** for approval, instead **** Meraz submitted the plans and the city sent them back for corrections. It wasn't till November 24, 2021 that Meraz actually started on the project by setting up the foundation to start pouring the 30X80 concrete pad. When **** Meraz came to set up the forms, Meraz set them up incorrectly. Meraz set them up 15x15, when the city’s rules were originally stated for 5x15. It was not until **** **** saw the form set up incorrect, **** had to call **** to fix the mistake. This process took longer than it was supposed to, so **** Meraz did not start to pour the concrete until mid-January. In addition, Meraz construction finished setting up posts. After three months of not working on the project, on February 19, 2022, Meraz Construction asked for more money due to the materials going up so in total, the project would increase to $56,000 not including labor; which was not stated in the signed contract. **** **** ("client") offered $6,000 to help with the increase in material, but Meraz Construction rejected the offer. Meraz continued to state that he would need $12,000 more not including the labor. Meraz would not continue to finish the project. On March 1, 2022 **** **** ("client"), contacted **** Meraz to get a final answer whether or not he was going
