On October 21, 2021 I had an appointment scheduled with an employee at The Shear Lounge in Downey, California. I showed her what I wanted to have done and I was quoted a price of $350. After she removed the foil I noticed burn marks on my face near the temples. I made it clear that my face was burning and itching and she ignored me. I was also not made aware that she would charge me an extra $25 for each bowl of bleach she used. Once the bleach was washed out she told me it was going to cost $625. She called the police assuming I wasn't going to pay. The police showed up and they said it wasn't a criminal case. I was forced to pay for the services prior to the services being completed. She left patches of light and dark spots at the root beneath the top layer of my hair. On the employee's Instagram she posted the inspiration picture that I sent her of the blonde tone we had discussed for the appointment. When I got into the salon I showed her a warmer tone of blonde and different technique from my phone. She did not give me what I asked for at the appointment. But she states it was the blonde tone I sent her through direct message, which is false because I never sent my inspiration picture, from the day of the appointment, that I had showed her from my phone. After leaving the salon I went to Kaiser Permanente Urgent Care in Downey for the chemical burns on my face.

Hello my name is Darlene. I am the person who serviced you. I am an independent contractor with 10+ years of experience.

I have full documentation of our service from beginning to end including written DMs from Instagram along with full footage of our 7 hour long service on camera at the salon from our surveillance footage.

To address the concern about the quoted price vs total price of the completed service, both you and I can follow along on Booksy. Booksy is the app you used to book your appointment where all prices are clearly written out with descriptions of what is included. Starting prices are listed along with the price of additional product if it is required to complete your services. Additional product is charged at $25 per additional bowl. You can read more in detail on the app about this. All policies and prices are available to read before booking. By choosing to book with me you are choosing to pay my prices. Your quoted starting price was exactly that, a starting price.

To address the alleged burn marks, there were other clients and another stylist at the salon who can verify I asked multiple times how your scalp was feeling throughout our 7 hour process. I am attentive to my clients' needs and am very vigilant as I myself have a very delicate scalp. I know the pain that comes with chemicals on the scalp for a prolonged period of time. I asked you multiple times how your scalp was feeling. I asked if you were burned after I heard you tell your mother on FaceTime that you were burned, to which you replied that you were not burned. You said no to be burned, no to being irritated, no to being in pain every time I asked.

To address the call I made to the police: after you and several people you called during your service were telling me you were not going to pay for your services that day I made sure to call the police to prevent theft. The first person you were on FaceTime with who I assume is your mother, repeatedly told me she was going to sue me and that you weren't going to pay and that if I wanted my money I could put in a claim at Small Claims Court. To protect my income after the 7 hours of work that I put in to do your hair I made the phone call to the police to prevent theft of my work on your hair.

To address the inspiration pictures: please recall that once I removed your foils I showed you where your previous brown color interfered with the lift of your hair. Your virgin hair lifted perfectly meanwhile the part of your hair that had previous color was darker than what we needed to achieve the pictures you showed me the day of your appointment which were different than the pictures you showed me on Instagram when I quoted you. I offered to go in and lighten the hair again and let you know it would be an additional charge to bleach the hair again. I gave you a breakdown of the price if we finish with the uneven lift that would match your original inspo pic you sent on Instagram vs the price to bleach again and achieve the picture you came in with the day of the appointment. You chose to not bleach again and finish with the color we were able to achieve with our 1 round of bleach.

All in all, you made the decision to be serviced by me, you changed your mind on what you wanted done on the day and time of your appointment, all prices were clearly written down for overview before booking, and I made sure to be attentive throughout your service until it was completed even after being threatened with a lawsuit over you not liking the final price and being told you were not going to pay. I have documentation and witnesses to backup all claims.
