Took my car in on Tuesday 3/11 for a recall on the engine. Made the appointment the week before. The service manager said they'd most likely REPLACE the engine since that's what happens with 80% of the recalls. Said he'd call me the next morning (Wed) to give me an update. Never called. I called him that afternoon, with no callback. Called again twice on Thursday, no callback. Called again Friday and got a woman who said she'd have him call me. Talked to him at 2:30 (finally) and he promised he'd call back in an hour and a half with an update. He finally called around 6 pm and was a rude jerk. When I brought up the fact that he hadn't called me back for 3 days, "you're not my only customer" were his actual words. He finally sent an "estimate" that evening for work to go along with the engine recall:- ************* $936.10( Includes parts + labor)- Transmission Fluid $599.95 - ********************* $299.95 - ********************* $199.95 One belt and half a dozen hoses are normal for most cars. Trans fluid and filter at ********** is $150. Injectors and throttle body should come with the engine. Trans fluid does not live in the engine and none should be lost in the swap. So if you've recalled it and are replacing the engine, why am I now expected to shell out an additional $2K for things like hoses WHICH SHOULD BE PART OF IT? They don't want to put the parts back because it will "contaminate" the engine. Yesterday I got a multipoint inspection report telling me I need front brake pads for $600 and rear for another $600. Typically for front brake pad replacement, you can expect to pay between $115 and $300 per axle (which includes both front wheels) for parts and labor. This is DOUBLE what is ************* is now 3/18 and they can't give me an estimate on when the parts will be in. Again, this is ridiculous. **** has been nothing but rude at this point and will only text me now. I'm given nothing but vague answers.Initial Complaint

I purchased a new 2023 ioniq 5 from the dealership CardinaleWay of El Monte on 08/30/2024. After calling Hyundai customer care I learned that the new car has two open recalls. These recalls were not disclosed to me and the dealership did not resolve this prior to selling me the vehicle. I also learned from the manufacturer that the warranty on the car began in December of 2023 rather than August of 2024 when I purchased the car. I have lost several months off of my warranty. This was also not disclosed. My new car was also supposed to come with two free years of electric vehicle charging through electrify America. The dealership had registered the car to themselves effectively making them the first owner rather than me. The promo code for the free charging says the enrollment code has already been used despite the dealership claiming this is a new vehicle. I was also promised that prominent scratches on the car could be invoiced and the cost covered by the dealership and that promise has not been fulfilled.Initial Complaint

Date of transaction: 07/25/2024 07/22/2024 my car was towed to the nearest Hyundai dealership, it was sent there after service hours so the key was deposited. 07/23/24 the vehicle was supposedly inspected and I was sent a text with a quote for $7076.08. After looking at the services that required immediate attention I knew that I was being scammed based on recent service prior to the tow. I had my mother call the dealership for me to confirm these services 07/24/2024 at 12:50pm, but then they told her that my car was still being processed and that they have to go through inspection. 07/25/2024 I go to the dealership and I deny services and ask that my car is given back immediately. A service advisor (not the same person who did the inspection) tried to explain that the integrated brake module unit was the only item necessary and that I misunderstood which services were necessary and which were suggestions. I told them that they were all under requirements from the quote and restate that I refuse their service. They then blamed it on the service advisor being sick and having loose communication. *********************** has not been in office due to illness since 07/23/2024 or 07/22/2024. I still had to pay $230 for them to inspect my car.I tow my car over to the ********* way Hyundai of Glendora, and after inspection they quoted me $387.82 for a 12V battery replacement and oil change. And my car was running completely fine after a week. They stated no concerns that align with El Montes suggestions. I have reason to suspect that El Monte had not performed an adequate inspection and quoted me for services that are usual for a car that passed the 100k mileage. I believe that I should not be financially punished for doing what was best for me and my vehicle by taking it to a dealership that has people with integrity in their work.Initial Complaint

Despite agreeing on a trade-in value on April 30th,2024, the dealership failed to pay the agreed-upon amount. After bringing this to the attention of the dealership's financial manager on June 13, 2024, I have yet to receive any payment or communication from them. The lack of payment and communication is a clear violation of our contract and has caused significant inconvenience and frustration.I am extremely disappointed and upset by this situation.Today on July 11th,2024 because I contact Official from Hyundai they were able to reach the dealer who was avoiding me. After speaking to them they have given me another excuse as to why and when I would see my money. When speaking to them about the amount they do not want to include or be responsible for the interest and fees I have come across and paid for. They have lied about not having the title when my bank has done all the necessary steps to ensure they have what they need.Initial Complaint

On MAY 20, 2024, My husband With me went to the CARDINALEWAY HYUNDAI OF EL MONTE CAR DEALERSHIP IN ********** to purchase a car. After more than two hours of bargaining, the total price of the car was finally determined to be $24,500 (including all fees, taxes, and licensing fees). We clearly told the salesperson to make a down payment of $5,000 and the remaining $19,500 to take out a bank loan, and asked not to accept any additional fees. During the process of signing the contract, the contract had too many pages and we initially asked if the contract was available in Chinese(because our English is not good),and the finance staff told us that it was only available in English. During the process of signing the contract, there were too many clauses, so we repeatedly stressed to the financial officer that the total price of the car was $24,500 and there could be no other fees and he nodded his head to indicate that he knew. When talking about the car warranty, he asked us to choose a plan, my husband immediately asked him if the two plans were charged, he told us that we don't need to.However, when I repaid my first car loan on June 19, I found out in the bank app that my total loan amount was $2,950 more than the original amount. I immediately rushed to the car sales center to ask for an explanation, and the management of the center informed me that I had bought a car insurance worth $2,950 after checking the system, and told me that once the contract was signed, it could not be changed, and if I returned this service, I could only refund $750. To date, neither the car sales department nor the finance department has given me any explanation, and I hereby complain that the car dealership has deceived consumers into selling paid insurance items. I want to refund this insurance, and ask for a full refund, $2950.Initial Complaint

Vehicle was sold as Hyundai Certified Pre Owned. I specifically asked multiple times to ensure it was certified. I was told yet repeatedly. Hyundai corporate said it was never certified. I had to complete the recalls that they failed to complete before selling me the vehicle. They continue to tell me that they are working on getting it certified but it is still not certified nearly a month later. When I asked for the *** paperwork they provided me with an inspection checklist. I asked if there was more like information that explained the warranty and they said there wasn't. They have been lying to me the entire time. They even tried to mark up the advertised price by several thousand dollars at the time of sale.Initial Complaint

In December 2020, I financed a 2 jeep Wranglers from this establishment. Originally, they asked for $6k down payment for each vehicle. Drove off the lot and received a phone call requesting for $2k more for my 2020 jeep wrangler. I drove back and gave them the remaining $2k (didnt make me sign new loan documents). 2 weeks after purchase my 2020 jeep wrangler was having issues with acceleration and check engine light. I drove back to the dealer to fix it where they advised me to take it to the jeep dealership since it was under warranty (12k miles when purchased). I took it to the jeep dealership 5 times in the first 6 months for the same issue where they can never find a solution or fix the issue. My jeep was in the shop for the same issue for over 45 days with in the first 6 months of ownership. The issue would still occur periodically but when ever I would try to get it serviced the light would be off and no longer find a cause. I have provided videos to the dealership on the issue. In October 2023 the issues started reoccurring again more severe. At this point I am over the 75k warranty so I asked a local shop what they would advise which was a new battery bi bought a battery. On October 30, 2023 the issue occurred again I was driving on a freeway on the fast lane going 75 mph where vehicle stopped accelerating dropping down to 45 mph and no power. This was the original problem I have had since purchase. In a panic and scared of being in an accident I swerved to the left shoulder of the freeway where I hit the left back end of my jeep on the freeway wall. In this accident some how the engine was ceased. The dealership should have fixed this issue originally when I had the issue 2 weeks after purchase as it was under a dealership warranty instead of sending me away. Now I am contacting a lawyer to figure out the lemon law and buy back as this issue could of been prevented and due to negligence of this issue I was in an accident. They are lucky no one was hurt.Initial Complaint

I bought a new Hyundai Sonata 2014 (in 2014) from Patriot Hyundai of Elmonte, about 6 years later they say I need a new engine. So they give me one. Patriot is sold to Cardinaleway Hyundai.. about 2 years later, ********* says I need a new engine (2nd engine), my car is stolen about 6 months later , we found it the same day and took it to *********, under our insurance, they replace and fix things the car never felt the same after getting it back. My husband and I were driving a couple of months later and a hose of some kind blows off and the car stops in the middle of a busy street leaking oil fluid,we have it towed ASAP toCardinale, they keep it for a while , fix it but then a few months later, the same exact thing happens again, a hose comes off and oil everywhere, the car doesnt drive after that. We took it straight back, they said its the transmission. They keep the car for two months claiming they were trying to get Hyundai Corp to pay for a transmission.. they said no. We are stuck with a lemon . We believe our car is a definite lemon. Come on, 2 engines? I ask the manager **** who was our contact about the issue and he says that it could be the engine is too strong for the transmission. Why wouldnt ********* say replace the transmission if it isnt compatible with the engine. We have taken care of our Sonata from day one but we find it extremely unethical that the job was not taken care of.They said the transmission would be 3k and that *** not even fix the problem.
