Coldwell Banker Cutten Realty (CBCR) was in violation of their own mold addendum. CBCR did an official turnover of an apartment and left a ***** washer/dryer (W/D) in the unit with standing water in a plastic tray under the washer. Both the W/D had considerable dirt build-up and other un-identifiable residues that were yellow, green, brown, and black in color. It took two months to get CBCR to agree to remove the W/D. The monthly rent for the apartment was $1250 with a W/D in unit. This cost was not adjusted once it was an apartment with W/D hookups. I could not afford a W/D with rising prices, and retailers in Humboldt County did not deliver; except for a local discount store that required a person to enter the store to see prices. It did not list prices on its website. I was also charged for the removal of the W/D. The metal blinds in each bedroom were severely rusted. It took a month-and-a-half to get them removed but not replaced with plastic blinds that would not have rusted. I had to purchase blind coverings for the windows in each bedroom. The apartment was generally dirty throughout including the window and slider tracks, shelves, wall heater, shower curtain, tile in the shower area, and garage; it also had a warped living room floor and was in disrepair in several places including the bathroom tub, bathroom window, bathroom walls, and front door. The apartment should have been reduced to $1200 a month. I paid $1250 with W/D hookups, no W/D included. $50 a month (reduction in rent for 12 months) + $50 a month (cost of doing laundry off-site for 12 months) + $100 for window coverings = $1300 refund.

I am rejecting this response because:

Coldwell Banker Cutten Realty's response contained several falsehoods. I could not move because of rising costs and the moving costs it took to get to Humboldt County, as well as my companion pet was sick. I was camping and living in my truck when I did the walkthrough with CBCR and had only one week of camping reservations left. Other property management companies were not responsive and CBCR only responded because I continued to contact them after they ignored me. I did not have other options for housing, and I needed to get indoors with my companion pet given the pandemic was ongoing. They put ** plastic blinds in the kitchen. No blinds of any kind were put ** in either bedroom. A new list of complaints did not prop up. I continued to follow up on my original list of complaints to ensure each item was addressed. The buttons on the washer were missing and some were broken. I provided photos that showed there was build-up of some kind inside the washer and underneath the washer. The dryer was ***** in several places. My apology was for being frustrated with CBCR's slow response and for their lack of attention to cleaning and turning over the apartment. I did not apologize for being difficult, because I was not the one being difficult. I moved because of the condition of the apartment, and the poor-quality of it was worsening my physical and mental health. I supplied a list of several reasons I was moving. The main one being that the condition of the apartment was worsening my disabilties.

CBCR blames the owners but CBCR is not a non-profit. They are a for-profit business. Coldwell Banker Cutten Realty is as much as responsible for the condition of the apartment as the property owners are.

      Sincerely,
