      Aguilar Roofing showed up at my residence at about 07:30 hrs. on Dec 28, 2021, as promised, to fix a small roof rain leak at the front of my main garage door, upright pole pointing to spot of repairs (atch 1b). It was a routine service call on a normal workday and hours (see business card, atch 2). After showing me two cell phone pics of the debris on the roof causing the leak, the roofer proceeded with the work estimated at one (1) hour, no materials or supplies needed. Less than one hour later when I was presented the ****, I was shocked to see: $850 (atch. 3), as I had been orally quoted a total of $350 a little earlier. After I questioned the excessive amount and was able to talk via cell phone with the alleged "Owner", he reduced it to $650 (atch. 4), which I then too hastily and prematurely paid by check. Soon afterwards when my wife and friends discovered the amount of this check, they realized I had been taken advantage of because of my age and health conditions, and I agree. I am a 90-year-old disabled veteran with *********************** the ***** Indeed, this appears to be a classic case of elderly abuse! Shortly afterwards when Aguilar Roofing failed to answer or return my calls, I wrote a "YELP REVIEW" of this work (atch 5). After a thorough investigation I have been able to determine that the going rate for this task in our area does not exceed $250-$300. I therefore request that Aguilar Roofing return to me at once the excess $350 I paid them ($650-$300). Indeed, I cannot financially survive by letting my money slip away like this. If this is a legitimate and reliable business, with just a one-time error or a case of bad judgment, they should be anxious to quickly rectify it.Note: I have just been informed by the ****** ************ that my check No. 780 has not yet been cashed by Aguilar Roofing and I am therefore putting it on hold until this matter is settled, and I will then promptly issue another check for the correct amount.

      I am rejecting this response because: need to rectify some inaccuracies in the Businesss response.
      In addition to myself, one of my neighbors witnessed the whole repair process and is willing to verify the events of this roof repair as they unfolded in the morning of 12/26/2021:
      One worker, and only one, showed up at my house and completed the entire work by himself.  Duration of work done, from arrival to departure of the lone worker, was about one hour.
      Roof maintenance had not been neglected as it had been inspected and serviced several times in the past, including replacement of some shingles.
      Worker did not inspect the whole roof, but only a small portion in the lower part above the garage at the pinpointed problem area.  This is a one stories house with easy roof access to the roof.
      I understood the workers quote to have been not more than $350.00, more like $200.00.
      When I initially questioned the excessive cost of repairs to owner ****** by phone, his answer was that I was not paying for the work done, but for his expertise, knowledge, and experience.  Ridiculous I asked for a simple roof repair, and I wouldnt have consulted and paid ******** for this kind of work!  Given this kind of rhetoric,further direct discussions between us would probably not have produced good results.
      I filed a BBB complaint, only after my phone calls and messages I had left for this business went unanswered.  I clearly stated in my BBB complaint that I was placing a hold on the check I had issued them, pending resolution of this BBB case;therefore, there should not have been any surprises.
      The Roofing Businesss goodwill offer of a monetary adjustment is noted, although I am also very much interested in exposing the truth in my quest to possibly prevent further incidents of this nature.
      I honestly want to believe that, all summed up, ****** Roofing is a good, reputable business, and this incident was perhaps just a one-time oversight or error.  I realize also that the delay of this Business in answering my complaint might have somewhat obscured for them the pertinent details of this case.  I am looking forward to an amicable close this case without adverse effects on this businesss operation,as I also very much want to put it behind me and try to forget the emotional distress it has caused me.  Good luck and best wishes to Aguilar Roofing in their future endeavors.

      To whom it may concern, 

       

      I will no longer respond to the clients rejection because I mention on my other message is that I'm not going to charge the client for the roof repair done. 

       

      I would like to clarify that I never received a phone call nor a voicemail from the client. 

       

      My company would never try to take advantage of a senior we always try to help all our clients as much as we need.
