I hired ***** to dog and cat sit for my dog and two cats for the dates 12/22/2022-1/06/2023. The total cost was $ ***** ($35/visit). The agreement is he would visit twice a day for 30 minutes each. I had found his services through thumbtack. He required 100% upfront through cash or Venmo. I Venmo'ed him on 12/1/2022 The first week was fine, he didn't text me much other than the cats were eating each other foods which is why I stated in the written instructions that one cat needs to be locked away while eating.On January 1st I received a text that he didn't show up the night prior because he was sick- meaning my dog was not fed or taken out for over 24 hours. I later found out that my neighbors were about to call animal services because my dog had been crying so loud for so long from the lack of care.The next morning he still could not make it and started calling all of my emergency contacts (even the ones that were listed for medical emergencies only)I was able to get my friend to fill in for him while he was sick - however this was extremely stressful to coordinate while I was overseas. What my friend walked into was extremely horrifying.The litter box looked like it was not scooped in days. There was dog p*** everywhere and dog pee in many places. Cat litter covered the floor and looks like he even stepped in some p*** and left it there.I had to ask multiple times for a refund for the visits he did not complete. He refunded me $105 for the three visits he did not complete.I was absolutely horrified at the photos I received from my friends and even more horrified that my neighbors were about to call animal services.I wanted to give ***** the benefit of doubt and a proper chance to respond/explain - I texted ***** some photos and explained what happened after I got home, he responded with "My apologies"
