      My girlfriend and I applied at The Mirage Apartments here in Fresno,Ca beginning of December. It took about a month to get our background checked, the end of January we were told we were approved for the apartment. On January 22nd 2022 we went into the office to drop off the $750 holding fee and to sign. We were then given a move in date which was set for February 18th at 2pm, on our way there I called them because we were running late and the assistant didn’t even remember we were going, she put the call on hold to speak to her manager then she proceeds to let us know that the apartment WAS NOT ready. We had called two weeks prior to confirm that the apartment will be ready they had said yes. We were really upset due to the fact that they were not communicating with us at all, no one had given us a call prior to that date letting us know the situation. Due to them we lost hours of work when it could have been prevented. We asked to speak to the manager the following Tuesday, she told me she couldn’t give a me date to move in because they still had to remodel the whole apartment and she was not sure when it will be ready. We were calling constantly to get updates on the apartment and seems like they were not making much progress on it. At that point we were just tired of waiting for it to be ready. The manager then gave us the option to cancel the application and she said we will get the $750 back. After speaking to the manager she told us she will be emailing the owner for the refund because they had already sent it to corporate. Again, we had to call constantly to see what’s the update on the refund she kept telling us they haven’t responded. On 2/17/22, we gave them a call to get another update she told us they were going to have a meeting that day and she was going to mention it to the owner. We gave them a call later that day she proceeds to let me know that they will only be giving us half of the $750 because they were getting the apartment ready for us.

      Hello,

      With ***** apartment  we had of issues getting apartment ready Due to parts getting here in time and some vendors not been able to do repairs due to covid. Apartment was going to be ready by the 28 of February which at this time ***** mention he didn’t want the apartment anymore he was aware of deposit not been refundable since he did sign a document which states that. But I told him I will see what what I can do about it . He wasn’t happy with only receiving half deposit because  apartment was ready to be moved in by now and he declined moving in.

       I am rejecting this response because: The apartment was not even ready on the 28th of Feb because I went on March 3 to see the update of the apartment, when I got there I went directly to the apartment to see what was getting done and it looked like it was barely getting painted. I then went to the office to speak to the manager and she had said it still needed appliances: bathtub, toilet and carpet. She mentioned it MIGHT be ready on a Friday 2 weeks from that day which would have been March 18th. It was not a confirmed date so that day my girlfriend and I decided not to follow through because we were tired of getting the runaround. She told us that we were able to get the whole deposit back due to the situation and there wasn’t going to be a problem getting back. I just want for Mirage Apartment to please return my hard working money back

      Paid a credit check fee of $35, was told I would get an answer within 1 week and it’s been 3 weeks and still haven’t heard of anything. Can hardly get a hold of anyone, only way they will pick up is if I call with a different phone number.

      As for *** I receive her application on 10-13-2021 . I wasn't able to run the application due to missing income . Once I received her proof of income, I was able to finalize her application. We do a text message verification and she did take a few days to verify the link and background check did took longer than expected.
