On November 9, 2023, I submitted a request for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act ***** and our school's policy, which would have *****ed me additional test time and an extension on assignments. Considering the heavy workload of this class, my intention was to exercise my civil rights by seeking an extension on the assignments due that week in order to focus on preparing for the exam. Unfortunately, despite the existence of a memo outlining the school's policy, the professor declined to ***** these accommodations.Four days later, on November 13, I received an email from our Disability Director at FPU stating that the accommodation for the exam had been allowed. However, there was no mention of the assignments. At that point, it was too late for me, as I had already submitted the assignments and utilized whatever time remained to study. Consequently, the professor's actions felt more like a taunt rather than a genuine effort to accommodate my needs. On November 16, during the exam, the professor engaged in laughter, idle chatter, and made random announcements with another student (a female classmate who was able to utilize accommodations). This unprofessional behavior created a significant distraction. It was only after another student voiced a complaint that the professor ceased talking and the student left. Finally, on November 23, I had a meeting with the professor to discuss my grades. During this conversation, he informed me that I was at risk of failing the course. Additionally, he informed me that I would be taking the exams one week after the class, and they would be a different version. This decision has put me at a disadvantage in all aspects, as what I initially sought was simply an extension on coursework prior to the first exam. As a result, I am now significantly behind, largely due to the failure of the ****** of ******* to adequately educate its staff on matters of policy and civil rights.Business response

Thank you for sending me your email. As an administrator at Fresno Pacific University, an institution of higher education, I must preserve confidentiality of student and personnel information which is protected by law and University policy. I am not permitted to release any information regarding any student or employee to the Better Business Bureau.
What I can share is that the University takes concerns regarding allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation and related matters very seriously and has a publicly available grievance process setting forth the Universitys response to such concerns (accessible at ********************************************************************). There is also an online portal available where anyone can report such concerns to the University (accessible at ********************************************).

I am rejecting this response because:
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere disappointment with the response I received from FPU regarding the recent situation I encountered. I feel compelled to communicate my concerns, as the actions taken have not only impacted my academic future but have also raised questions about fairness, equal treatment, and the upholding of civil rights.
Regrettably, instead of receiving the necessary support and accommodations, I find myself in a position where my academic success is in jeopardy. The demand to complete all exams and quizzes within a condensed two-week timeframe has created an undue burden and undue stress on my overall academic performance. This situation has left me feeling marginalized and disregarded.
I must also express my concerns about gender disparities that have become apparent in this ordeal. It has come to my attention that some of my female classmates were afforded opportunities for advancement that, for reasons unbeknownst to me, were not made available to me. This inconsistency in treatment further heightens my concerns and questions the integrity of the school's policies.
Additionally, the response I received from the professor in question was not only dismissive but also condescending. The inclusion of a scripture and an insulting suggestion to "manage my time better" only adds insult to injury. This response undermines the seriousness of the situation and fails to recognize the importance of inclusivity and upholding students' civil rights as mandated by *** law.
As a motivated and dedicated student, I have always strived to manage my time effectively and responsibly. However, circumstances occasionally arise that require assistance and understanding from the educational institution. It is disheartening to experience a lack of empathy and support when such circumstances arise.
I urge FPU to reconsider its position and provide a fair and equitable resolution to this matter. It is my genuine hope that this incident can serve as an opportunity for growth and improvement, ensuring that all students are treated with dignity, respect, and equality.
