In August of 2023, I went to Dr. **********************'s office to have my teeth cleaned. Dr. ********************** said I did not need a standard cleaning, but I needed a periodontal cleaning. I was against it but she was adamant this was the cleaning I needed. I finally consented to the periodontal cleaning and paid up-front $362.00 for my share of the procedure even though I had provided Dr. ********************** a copy of a flyer I had received from my dental insurance provided ( copy attached,) that stated my insurance would cover ******************************************************* March of 2024, I went to Dr. **********************'s office for a regular teeth cleaning. At that time, I asked the receptionist again about the payment for the periodontal cleaning I had made in August of 2023. I was told by the receptionist that a mistake had been made and they had been paid the full amount as indicated on the insurance flyer, something Dr. ********************** never mentioned to me or my wife, even though we were in her office a number of times during the period from August 2023 through December 2023.Dr. ********************** had keep the $362.00 dollars I paid for their service for over seven months, and said nothing to me or my wife about the mistake their office had made.After we found out about the mistake, my wife called and asked them to send a check for the money they were holding. We did finally receive a check, but not for $362.00, but for $162.00. The difference of $200.00 was charged for a missed appointment, the one in March of 2024 that I was in Dr. ********************** office for a regular teeth cleaning. I did not miss the appointment, Dr. ********************** staff made the decision not to perform the procedure.Business response

Thank you for forwarding me the information related to complaint assigned ID ******** regarding *********************. Unfortunately due to HIPPA and patient privacy I can not go into full detail regarding this patient and place me at a disadvantage with public responses. Albeit due to the patients preexisting conditions and failure to comply with recommended treatment plan and patient signed financial agreement, protocol was followed in the best interest of the patient and per *** guidelines. Certain guidelines must be met with patient care in order to prevent more serious outcomes. ********************* failed to follow protocol related to his treatment thereby self dismissing from his appointment as under his preexisting condition it would be considered malpractice to perform what he wanted. As a doctor I must always do what is in the best interest of the patient promoting the most favorable outcome. The patient self dismissed thereby the $200 fee applied as per his financial agreement. The fee is customary as self dismissing prevents other patients to be seen, and prevents dedicated staff time.

I am rejecting this response because: I do not believe any additional information would make a difference. In addition, I believe the Better Business bureau as done its part in helping correct the event described and I thank the Better Business Bureau for its assistance.
