Roofing repairs were not completed correctly and were verified by the initial estimator, ****. Roofers spent less than 2 hours on the roof removing debris and replacing 2 shingles. The wood facing and shingles that should've been reset were not done. **** also confirmed that the wrong cement/caulking was used to reset shingles. The initial estimate of $525 should have covered the 2 shingle replacements, debris removal, and the resetting of shingles and wood facing as this was specifically pointed out to ****. Approximately 3 weeks ago, **** returned to our home to inspect the work that had been done and agreed that the job was not finished and the repairs that had been done by the 2 roofers was done incorrectly. Rainworthy Roofing is sending me a $525 invoice for a job that has not been finished and confirmed by their estimator, ****. He wrote up a second report, however, we never heard back from him or anyone from the Rainworthy office.

      To Whom It May Concern:

Original estimate was provided to **** ***** on 7/15/21. Repairs that were to take place are as follows:

      1. Replace two broken tiles, matching existing as closely as possible.

      2. Remove tiles at debris filled valleys, remove debris, inspect flashings and make any necessary repairs, then reinstall tiles. Approx. 30 ft.

There was no mention of any woodwork that was to take place on the estimate. We provided the estimate and Mr. ***** signed that estimate to authorize the work to be done. We completed the work that was listed on estimate and sent an invoice.  Mr. ***** says the wood work was not completed. There was no wood work listed on bid that was accepted and completed. I sent our repairman back to check and make sure that the work n the original given bid was completed correctly. He reported back to me that it was. We as roofers generally do not do fascia repairs and/or woodwork. The repairs Mr. ***** wants completed should be handled by a general contractor which I discussed with Mr. & Mrs. *****. I told them I would get someone back out to give an additional bid for the wood work since they were unhappy but they wanted said wood work to be completed for free since Mr. ***** said it should have been taken care of in the original estimate/work order. We can do additional repairs requested at an additional cost to the owner if wanted. Original estimate that was accepted did not have these included.  If additional estimate is needed we will provide. If you have any questions regarding this please let us know.

I am rejecting this response because:

Rainworthy Roofing Inc. provided 2 separate estimates. The estimate for the home roof did not note any information regarding wood work. The estimator, ****, who came to the residence was specifically told and shown which part of the home roof we requested repaired. The specific area was the corner of the roof that needed wood work.  If wood work was not included on the home roof, why was this not noted on the estimate for the home roof like it was on the estimate for the patio roof?  I've attached the estimates that were given.

The estimator and company representative, ****, come out for a follow-up visit the first week of August, he agreed that the repairs we discussed were not complete. He communicated to us that the repairs we initially discussed should’ve been done when the 2 roofers came the first time. We have not heard back from him or anyone from Rainworthy.

Rainworthy may provide an itemized invoice for the cost of the 2 shingles and the cost of labor for the 2 roofers who spent approximately 1.5 hours on the job.  The cost of the 2 shingles and 1.5 hours of labor  does not substantiate the initial estimate of $525.00.

      Regards,
      **** *****

Sorry for the delay in response. Our whole office has COVID. I am still out of office but wanted to respond to rejection. Would a revised invoice for work performed be acceptable? Please advise and we will get that taken care of for you.

      Thanks,

      Customer response

      10/14/2021

I am rejecting this response because: RainWorthy Roofing Inc. may provide a revised itemized invoice for review.  The itemized invoice should reflect  the cost per tile (2 were replaced) and the labor cost for each of the 2 roofers who spent a total of 1.5 hours removing some of the debris from the rooftop.  Once we review the revised invoice for the actual work performed and materials installed, we will make the appropriate payment for the services performed.

      Regards,
      **** *****
