In early April I received an estimate from P& J Custom Window Coverings and based on the quality and integrity of the product purchased shutters for my entire home. Three months later on July 7, ***************************** tow with merchandise that was literally being snapped together like Legos comprised of what felt like cheap workmanship and poor quality materials. The two frames assembled were snapped together and light permeated through the seams. Right away I could tell that it wasn't sturdy or of the same quality of the samples demonstrated. I completed a purchase of 16 shutters for $7000.00n in April and paid for one additional shutter in June for $240.00. I paid my balances off on the day of the orders and would like all my money refunded,.Purchasing shutters was based on the quality of the product, its durability and composition. This company failed in all those aspects. I've contacted my credit card company a d ha e filed a billing dispute but this business establishment is trying to dodge the bullet and not take responsibility. What they brought to my home was poorly made and of cheap quality. Unfortunately, I had to fi.e a police report for intimidation and harrasment from the actual owner. Shameful when an adult businessman behaves so ruthlessly and unethically

      Customer response

      09/14/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

P&J Custom Window Coverings  INVOICE # WITH REMEASURE ON 5/30/2023 are as follows:  #****** and ******.  These two forms included all the most accurate window measurements since the installation.  Obviously there was a gross oversight on their behalf because the measurements that were used were prior to the installation of the new windows May 23, 2023.  ****** came out and remeaured plus measured my s all bathroom for an additional shutter now making it 17.  On the new invoice ending in ****** it is showing the payment of the last a d Fina shutter of 240.00.

You can review the first receipt from 4/19/23 for 16 shutters but it should have null and void because the REMEASURE invoice from 5/30/23 showed obvious discrepancies in the  ew measurements.   The only way that that product was expedited so carelessly is that the original dimensions from 4/19/23 invoice#****** and #****** were used!  Despite invoice #****** had a bo,d note in the middle of the page saying

HOLD- Need to remeasure.   She's getting new windows.

I am being maligned by a ruthless, unethical and unsavory business owner.  I received these documents yesterday after waiting over 60 days for some resolution.   However, they've given me until September 9th to respond which is in three days and expecting information that I don't readily have at the moment.   I'm appalled and disgusted with that gentleman.   I don't care about all his lies!  I know the truth and I'm living with curtains hanging by tacks!  17 windows!  I never ordered other shutters.  As I consumer I shopped around looking for what fit my style and budget!  But I was gravely deceived by the poor quality and workmanship of their products.

I initially purchased a total of 16 shutters for my home.  The sample size appeared very sturdy and well made.  The trim was shown in pieces much smaller, fist size but you could feel the durability and solidness of the product.

The first visit occurred  April  19, 2023 while all the original windows were still in place.  I informed ****** that the original windows from **** were going to be replaced  in late May as we were waiting for our order to be made.
Nevertheless,  ****** took those measurements and I advised her that I would immediately Inform her once the new ones were installed.  Based on the measurements for the first 16 windows (minus the bathroom window) we agreed on $******** and I decided to just complete the purchase at that time with payment.  That is shown as INVOICE  ****** AND INVOICE  ******.  it is clearly showing that I opted to pay the full ******** for my order of 16 shutters.

However,  when ****** came to Re-Measure on 5/30/2023 above the INVOICE number she wrote REMEASURE.   This invoice is printed as  ****** and she scribbled the last three digits and WROTE IN 080.    The Second page to the REMEASURE invoice was ****** but again scribbled over the last three digits and added 080.  However,  on this invoice I was charged the final cost for my 17th bathroom window shutter.   This is all very clear and detailed but p&J figured return her 240 because it's only on the remeasure invoice!  So shameful of this business owner.  Trying to lie himself out taking accountability for his mishaps!  They didn't provide you with a copy of the remeasure of the windows because they failed to manufacture the new REMEASURE size windows to make properly fitting shutters.

I'm assuming this was done to show it was a purchase from the same customer adding an additional bathroom window shutter increasing the total items purchased from 16 to 17.

If you use the Re-Measure document (******&****** invoice) you will not only count 17 items total but also see the $7000 deposit in addition to the Progress Payment of $240 leaving a balance of zero for my total purchase of 17 Shutters.

Now, there's an obvious discrepancy in the original estimate dimensions dated 4/19/23 and the REMEASURE dimensions taken on 5/30/23.  The sizes of the new windows changed dramatically.   A 1/4" or 1/2" etc really impacts how secured, sturdy and flushed the product installs.

********************* mentioned that the frames were short and they would have to improve and shimmy pieces of plastic to secure the shutters.   I will e close you both these copies a d you will witness the deceit,  manipulation and ruthless behavior of this gentleman.

However,  once she came for the Re-Measure of the new wi dows I decided to add and include my bathroom window for $240.00 on May 30, 2023.  Now it would a total of 17 shutters .  16@$******** and [email protected]. Totaling $7,240.00.
There were two different estimates provided.   The first one on April 19, 2023 for a total of 16 shutters and ****** wrote down and included the measurements based on the sizes of the old windows.

However, on May 30th there was a ***MEASURE of all 16 original windows plus the additional bathroom window for $240.00.  If you look at the new ***MEASURE windows on 5/30/23 the measurements are actually slightly larger and even a 1/4 or 1/2 inch makes a substantial difference in terms of being properly installed and the integrity of the product.

I was told by ****** that it would take approximately 3 months to get these shutters made.  I was OK with that because we needed to remove all the curtain rods, patch and paint.  However, I got several calls from.  June 28th regarding the installation of the shutters.  I was told if lucky may be the lastweek of July but probably August 2023 for installation.   I texted ****** ans she responded with a shocked and surprised response of:"Oh that was fast!  I will try to send a copy of this conversation.

Well, we agreed to July 7th and when Ispoke to the Installer ********************* and told him our ***MEASURE with the new windows occurred on May 30, 2023 and the were calling me by June 28th that they were ready to install. Mr. *** ia said he was shocked on stunned because he stated normally it takes between 8 to 12 weeks and by he's never had an order come in inless than two months.

While the two installers brought I  their tools a a couple of boxes he mentioned to his colleague *************************** that the only  two frames that were assembled by snapping I n to place were short in size. That meant all the frames were going to be short in size because what appears to have happened this company did not wait for the ***MEASURE that was completed on 5/30/23 that showed that the new measurements were actually larger!  And that also makes sense because they were ready inless than 4 weeks!  Basically,  this is confirming my theory that this business disregarded waiting for the Re-Measure and built them according to the first measurements with the house's **** original windows.
And on 5/30/2023 when the more precise and accurate measurements were obtained giving a more accurate and precise measurements of the actual size and dimensions required,  it showed a difference in the new measurement numbers from the  numbers originally obtained with the old windows.

What appears to have happened is the measurements obtained from 4/19/2023 were submitted for the 16 teen that were to be ordered after the Re-Measure on 5/30/23.  On the contract of 5/30/23 I ordered and added 1 additional shutterfor my bathroom for 240.00.  The measurements taken on 5/30/23 were taken with the new windows installed providing the NEW ACTUAL AND MOST ACCURATE measurements.

As you can see based on the documentation with the measurements provided to you completed on 4/19/23 those were not supposed to be the final  measurements to used for makng the shutters.

When ****** returned to do the remeasure on 4/30/23 that an additional bathroom shutter was

I bought several custom window coverings from the business on 8/18/2010 with a LIFETIME WARRANTY. Recently I contacted the company as most all windows have turned YELLOW and are not working/ I contacted them via phone where I was asked to furnish the invoice of the transactions. First the company should have records of my window order as it was offered as a LIFETIME WARRANTY. Fortunately after all theses years I had a saved copy of the invoice which I furnished to the company via email on May 24th, 2022. The company called me and told me that they do not serve my area any more and I should contact ***** **** coating in santa fe springs at ************. I will have to spend my own money to get the windows recoated and that they can not do anything. I called the ***** **** coating in santa fe springs at ***-***-**** on several occasions and left voicemails but did not receive any response. I am stuck with these windows that look old and do not work. They are devaluing my house value and unnecessary pain to us as I am unable to use the windows as intenede.

Hi there, on all of our shutter warranties are for seven years. On this order the job is over 12 years old and is out of warranty. Also in 2011 I sold my Southern California store and a company. When they bought it from me they took over all warranties and customer lists. However those warranties were still the same as mine which is seven years as it states on the contract.

I am rejecting this response because:

This document was never shared with nor disclosed at the time of sale or in any subsequent documents. The company needs to show some proof that this document was provided to me and I signed the document. The only document provided to me by the company is what I attached and that document does not state any such thing.

The companies product is sub standard and they are deceptively marketing their product to entice the customer in believing that nothing will happen to there product and do not disclose that the warranty is actually for 6 YEARS ONLY. If this is in their product than the company should clearly state that the product is guaranteed for 6 YEARS ONLY and have the customer specifically sign that document.

      Thanks,

If you have a copy of your invoice, this is printed on the back of it. Our warranty is as stated. Your warranty has expired. There’s nothing more to talk about. There has been several forms of our warranty as it has changed over the years. The one provided is what appears to line up from the time period that you purchased. All of our contracts have warranties printed on them.

I am rejecting this response because: I disagree with the business. The practice are not clear. The invoice was sent via fax and there was no other page. I have the Original Fax. If the company can provide any proof that they delivered the warranties to me as I am doing then I will accept what they are saying.
      Thanks,

I purchased $10,000 in shutters for my home 7 1/2 years ago and because of covid have not had repairs done on my home over the last 2 years. Company is stating that their "lifetime" warranty was only valid for 7 years and because of this will not cover the discoloration and warping I am having with the product. The contract I signed states " that lifetime is "about six years" but expect their window coverings to last many times that with normal use". They are walking back that statement and not covering mine because they are over 7 years (by a few months). I was told their "lifetime" is 7 years but don't see anything other than what I attached in what they consider a lifetime. I was mislead to believe the shutters would far outlast this and when I called to have them repaired was told of the "7 year"policy. Very misleading

Hi there , just a few things , I stumbled across this complaint by mistake , my email sent this communication to junk. I have read the complaint and I have a few questions,  could I please be provided with a copy of the  contract to make sure we are deals with someone who has purchased from me , about 70% of my complaints are from people who haven’t even purchased from me. The complaint clearly states my warranty for shock all customers sign. I’m a bit confuse on why there is a complain. According to this person if they did biy from me , they are clearly out of a covered warranty.  Please help me understand, thank you.
