I paid $30.00 to join this organization. I have not heard anything from them. My card was charged but when I sign into the account, it keeps saying "on hold." They are non-responsive when you call or send in emails. I am seeking a full refund.

I joined Red Hat Society 12/3/2022 and paid the membership fee of $30. I never partook in any of the local chapter activities. There is a annual renewal fee of $30, but with no advance warning from year to year that one's card will be charged. Without any advance notice my card was charged another $30 on 12/3/2023. I tried repeatedly (emails, phone calls, even a letter sent via ***** to speak to a human about wanting to cancel this membership. Finally, I spoke to a human named "Lupa". I gave this person every scrap of details pertaining to this issue, and was informed "only ******** can cancel your membership and give you your $30 back." "********" never contacted me. I filed a dispute with my bank and was refunded the $30. Even the "local chapter" did not respond to my email request. ****My worry and concern is that this so-called organization will continue to charge my card ending in **** annually.**** I want this madness to stop and I want proof that this membership has been permanently cancelled. And to never charge my credit card again for a membership I want nothing to do with.

On 11/08/22 i purchased a membership with the red hat society, member ID number ********. On 11/08 I called the main headquarters number and asked how to become involved with the society, as I saw no meetings available to attend posted on the website, which was finally visible after Id paid the money. I was told it was up to each individual member to contact other members and ask to join in activities. I contacted numerous listed groups and even personally contacted one individual group head who responded to me once via email. When I continued to pursue with this person how to become involved and attend actual activities, I never heard from anyone again after 11/08/22. I was immediately disappointed in what looked like an inactive group and requested on 11/10 via email to member services to have my membership fee refunded and membership cancelled. I also spoke again to the woman who answers the single group telephone number listed for the supposed group headquarters in *************. I live nearby to *********, so I had assumed I would be close to a lot of the group meetings. The woman said that I had purchased the membership and it was too late to ask for a refund even if I was dissatisfied. They had my money and that was that. This was two days after purchase on 11/10/22. I dont feel this is an active social group but is a fraudulent use of what may have once been an active social society. Using the former group name and then offering nothing on purchase is a real scam. To be told that its up to you to create your own social group on this nothing website is a scam and a joke. After requesting membership in what are supposed to be all these active groups, I never saw any evidence of active participants or currently ongoing events. On their ******** page they advertise that you can purchase cruise trips, but I had no interest in that. I went on their ******** site to see if I could find anyone to talk to about this ghost town of a membership.

I want $30 back. Gave payment a week ago. No one locally responds, a rep at customer service told me cause people are old it may take 3 weeks to get a response. I got told their website needs work but the don't have the money to fix. I called next day to ask about the time frame to get response from 6 local chapers whom I reached out to through their private message system, she proceeded to tell me I didn't put the correct info in the request. The failed website is the Only way to reach out to local chapters now I'm told I was supposed to put in my phone number when I reach out but yesterday the same rep said they don't call or email me only use the website private messenging. I think this organization is taking advantage of elder people cause they take your money then don't have a way to provide the service then blame it on being old and blame it on their failed website instead of human interaction. I'm an elder too and this is no excuse to use to treat people this way.
