I own a camper van manufacturing business. On 12/11/23 there was a fire in our shop. The property owner hired ANM for restoration. 12 vans had smoke and soot damage. The man in charge, *************************, said ANM could clean the vans with a special process that would eliminate the soot damage and smoke odors. ANM cleaned two vans, but when I inspected them after they dried they still smelled bad and there was still a lot of soot on many surfaces (on cabinets, inside showers, on water tanks, on the popup top canvas), so I did not allow them to clean the other vans. I received an invoice for the cleaning 2 vans before I was able to inspect them (I drove across the country for the holidays), and a lot was going on trying to save our business, so I forgot about it until last week when they requested payment. Based on the cleanings not having the promised results or to our satisfaction, I refused to pay. Admittedly I should have addressed the situation sooner, but in the midst of dealing with customers, vendors, employees, the insurance company, family stuff, etc, our landlord terminated our lease and gave us 3 weeks to move so I have been focused on that and a van cleaning bill was not even on my radar. I explained that they did not do what was promised (they now say nothing was promised) and I provided photos of remaining soot, etc, but they filed a lien against me and my business. I think it relevant to add that our relationship with ANM became very antagonistic several weeks ago because my husband and ************************* disagreed on what was decided regarding the restoration of the building (a separate issue than the failed restoration of the vans), and I feel this is a personal vendetta and is ********************** way of expressing his animosity. It is my position that if a job is not done well or properly, then the cost has not been earned. I never agreed to pay for the vans to be sort-of cleaned. I want the lien released and the invoice canceled.

ANM Construction **** agreed to clean the vans which belong to her as the tenant. We explained to her we could attempt to clean the interior due to the smoke and odor caused by the fire.  We cleaned 3 vans for her back in December and she was made aware of the cost at that point. She even asked for the breakdown to send to her insurance carrier. She was served eviction of the property from the landlord and after that she refused to pay the outstanding bill. She only brought up that she doesnt agree with the cleaning in March despite the fact the work was done mid-December.

So we are moving forward with collections against her as she did not bring up this information in December when we started the restoration and was instructed by her to stop when she found out she has limited coverage from her insurance carrier.

This complaint is as a result of the retaliation as we sent her past due balance to the collection.
