I paid 1,500.00$ to Family Court Direct ( 75 Aero Camino CA) around August 2021 and 39.00$ every month since until February 2024 that’s almost 4,000$. I just realized that the company closed because I was trying to get a hold of them, I didn’t receive any services from them they didn’t even tell me they were closing just kept all my money I needed a lawyer i was trying to work out the problem out of court first that’s why it was so long but it didn’t work now I desperately need a lawyer that I paid for and don’t have any money to pay for another one. I want compensation from them asap so that I can get another lawyer. Please help me I am beside myself with worry and depression. On October 10th I was contacted by a friend who was seeking legal assistance. I paid the initial fee around $1200 and they assured us that they would prepare the paperwork for a child custody issue. They are almost impossible to contact by phone or email and have repeatedly lied about sending paperwork via email and regular mail. They instituted a monthly payment system that has to be canceled by phone, but they don't answer the phone or return phone calls. After 6 weeks, they sent incorrect paperwork to file and we can't reach them for resolution. After seeing the reviews I suspect that they are a predatory company similar to the ones who target the elderly with scams. I just want to advise you to try to prevent this situation from happening to others.Business response

I called and spoke with J*****, I asked him was there any other cost involved. He stated no. Just maybe court fees. I was lead to believe that I was paying for representation for my son. Samone called my son asking for $1000 for representation.Business response

Natalie with fcd told me allot of things to be able to get my $159, examples being paralegal help to cut back on hours with lawyer, advice from fcd paralegals, and being able to assist in finding a lawyer in there network for less. First five minutes in and its obvious they wanna just push me to file paperwork which i find out costs more to even show me. Ten minutes insybe with case manager and they want another $100 to help me find a lawyer. Not at all what i was told. I was looking for legal advice and help interacting with my lawyer with a paralegal…. I was told by fcd that they were the ones for that. Lies. All lies. This is a scam. Refund it.Business response

Called and demanded credit card before speaking to a legal representative. Called from California number i asked why i am in Texas the laws are different. He says "no im not in California im in Texas. Lied. I am an idiot for jumping on this in my desparation. My daughter was abducted from church yesterday and now i am short on the money i was about to hire an actual real life attorney in Austin Texas, and ive already lost a whole day. I NEED MY MONEY REFUNDED IMMEDIATELY. If my daughter is allowed to board an airplane tomorrw because i wasnt able to file papers in time i will sue for additional cost of recovering my child and wasting my time while there is an international child abduction taking place. You are helping him get away to Germany where the age of consent is 14 and prostitution is recognized as a legal profession.Business response

I went online as I am devastated because I need a family lawyer and able to see my granddaughter again and somehow I connect it with family court direct and spoke with **** * * * * * * and he assured me that an attorney would call and they charged me $159 which already came out of my bank account and I realized that I've been scammed! Is there any way I can get that money back? I have to put a block on my card so they don't continue taking money out so I'd appreciate for them to send me a check for that amount of $159 and leave me alone! How dare they take advantage of somebody who just lost their grandchild!Business response

I had a custody issue so I was going to go ahead and use the service. But my custody case has become much more complicated and this service can no longer help me. I had to hire a real attorney. I have never actually spoken to my caseworker (Jeff Lightbody) So they have not done any work on my case yet but they will not refund my $1000. To me that is theft. They were hired to provide a service, That service was not provided. So they are not entitled to money for work they didn't do.Business response

I was conned into paying for this service. I was told I would have immediate access to the court filing program so I could file myself. Lo and behold, when I got on the phone with my case manager, she told me that I had to wait 4 months to get access to that which WAS NOT disclosed in the enrollment process. I would not have enrolled if I knew that information, but instead of disclosing it they deceive you in a very vulnerable moment into thinking they can help you. My case manager told me they would issue a refund yet I haven’t heard anything back. Every time I try to call I have to leave a voicemail I can never talk to a person. I was met with nothing but false promises and lies.Business response

I talked to a company rep. that stated the self help option was available for me. Verified that was the option I wanted. I paid the money $159 and was contacted by an associate. Was then told that the self help option wasn't available in Michigan. This associate told me the first one I talked to couldn't tell me it was available because it had to go through her. I am now calling everyday waiting for the tape to be reviewed so that I can get my money back. These people are VERY rude.Business response

On 12/15/2022 I paid $159.00 dollars for divorce documents they were to send through email. This was actually for my daughter, but I paid the bill. She and I were in contact with them until we told them we wanted to use the self-help option. The next option was to have an attorney fill out the forms, we cannot afford $900 for a legal assistant fill out the forms. My daughter would still have to deliver the forms to her husband who is in jail for assaulting her. I just want our money back. They will not return or calls or emails I have sent. Terrible business practice.Business response

We are always trying to improve the service we offer and make sure it's the best possible outcome for our members. It was an unfortunate series of events that led to you not receiving the proper service that you should have. Your case was initially assigned to one of our case managers who then unfortunately fell ill and was out sick for almost two weeks. Your case should have been reassigned to a different case manager and we apologize that didn't happen in a timely manner. We have already refunded you the enrollment fee of $159 and would still like to offer you the self help services that you signed up for initially.
