There was an fire in my moms property March 3, 2021. This contractor ***** was at the property the very next day March 4, 2021. My mother is a very ill dialysis patient in &out of hospital. This contractor requested for declaration of insurance & other home information to help us board the room & to sign a contract. He then convinced my mom to get a public adjuster. The insurance company which is State Farm issued a check on 4/03/2021 for $********* and a contract was signed on 5/10/2021. In this contract he was suppose to do the approved work by State Farm insurance. No work had been started until mid January 2022. By that time my gave my mom a sheet of paper with prices totaling $*********. When I reviewed the paper that was given to my mom for payment on 1/17/2022 I immediately called him for a professional invoice of detailed charges. At that point he became enraged refusing to provide documentation. I emailed the contractor again to please provide me with invoice of work he stated was done/completed because at that point all I saw was that he demo the whole house; bathrooms, showers, and even removing 2 walls in the kitchen none of what the insurance approved for. The invoices were provided on 1/19/2021 and by then the charges had gone up now I owed him $********* in a matter of day. By the 2nd day he had gone back to the property placing a 20day preliminary lien 1/22/2022. He also advise me that the contract my mom signed with him was not valid and its considered NULL. the contract signed 5/10/2021 & termed on 8/30/2021 no new contract signed. He has trespass into our property taking ac motors and he has caused us double/triple the cost in repairs for his damages. No permits/blue prints for a beam placed in the kitchen. All electrical wires cut etc. I would like for this contractor to pay for damages done!

If I could leave a "0" I would. My Dad's room burned back in 2020 as the room was burning this contractor was already on the scene getting my Dad's insurance information. He came in talking about so many new renovations that would be done on the house because my Dad had a VERY good insurance . A whole year passed ****** he actually started to work on the house yet he cashed a few checks from the insurance company that my Dad signed over to the contractor. A room had to be knocked down because according to city it was not in the original blueprints (house was built in 1930s) the contractor assured my Dad it would be rebuilt and that didn't happen. The contractor promised soo many new additions ,up to date windows, central A.C and other things that didn't happen either. To this date fire alarm goes off at early hours of the morning, the microwave turns on by itself we reached out to him to come see these issues, the contractor said he would once the last check cleared we didn't hear from him again. Things were left unfinished and other things we weren't satisfied with. He made EVERYTHING seem so easy and was sure insurance would cover at the end my Dad was "suggested" to take out a loan or out of pockets for the thing the insurance didn't cover according to the contractor. The insurance paid out a VERY good amount of $$$ for what the contractor claims he did to the house. My Dad has had a headache with this situation ,to have someone promise him so many things and then walk away leaving unfinished work is just not ok.

First off I don't approach talking about renovations, now the house is nearly 100 years old and there where lots of red flags that the city brought up. The biggest was the illegal room in the back and the restroom adjacent to it. The back patio was illegal, the other restroom had really bad all exposed drainage pipes that city flagged and we repaired. They're where lots of problems with the back room being illegal. The city had never been there to do an inspection of the home. The fire Caused major Roof damage that we had to remove and replace half the roof framing. Not to mention there was an illegal room in the attic, where the fire started from all that bad old illegal wiring not done correctly and how the fire started. We as the contractor can not rebuild a patio-bedroom-restroom all for FREE! With the same insurance funds! Not going to happen. I did Repair most of the plumbing, drains, and made them a brand new shower in the existing restroom. And repaired all the bad rotted wood in that area, subfloor. Now I also Paid for the plans and permits for the extension as something in return to them for the opportunity to help them restore their home. Which in itself was about $4600. The owner paid nothing out of his pocket and we completed the work that pertained to the fire restoration. We Made some changes inside to enlarge the kitchen added more cabinets, enlarged one bedroom that was very small. I understand that they wanted us to repair all that cause it seemed like a lot of money, but everything that is paid for by the insurance is for the work to be done. And within that if we can do some extras within the budget,.. we will, but some people want us to fix their home that has illegal problems already to start with is tuff. But we take care of the clients and do right all the time by the clients. Can't please everyone. I offered the client our Financing program options with great interest rates! but he refused wanted me to pay for it. $40,000-$50,000 dollars in work for free... We are a small business but we want to continue to stay in business..
But all in all this file was closed work was completed, city passed ****** mortgage passed ****** insurance closed file, owner was content but of course complaining some. Signed completion Satisfaction form. Its not realistic people know this but they try anyway... And then get the idea two years later to put a complaint on BBB with exsageration of events to try and hurt our business. Even though they paid absolutely nothing out of their pockets and their house looks 10 times nicer than before... Amazing but it is what it is..
