There was an fire in my moms property March 3, 2021. This contractor ***** was at the property the very next day March 4, 2021. My mother is a very ill dialysis patient in &out of hospital. This contractor requested for declaration of insurance & other home information to help us board the room & to sign a contract. He then convinced my mom to get a public adjuster. The insurance company which is State Farm issued a check on 4/03/2021 for $********* and a contract was signed on 5/10/2021. In this contract he was suppose to do the approved work by State Farm insurance. No work had been started until mid January 2022. By that time my gave my mom a sheet of paper with prices totaling $*********. When I reviewed the paper that was given to my mom for payment on 1/17/2022 I immediately called him for a professional invoice of detailed charges. At that point he became enraged refusing to provide documentation. I emailed the contractor again to please provide me with invoice of work he stated was done/completed because at that point all I saw was that he demo the whole house; bathrooms, showers, and even removing 2 walls in the kitchen none of what the insurance approved for. The invoices were provided on 1/19/2021 and by then the charges had gone up now I owed him $********* in a matter of day. By the 2nd day he had gone back to the property placing a 20day preliminary lien 1/22/2022. He also advise me that the contract my mom signed with him was not valid and its considered NULL. the contract signed 5/10/2021 & termed on 8/30/2021 no new contract signed. He has trespass into our property taking ac motors and he has caused us double/triple the cost in repairs for his damages. No permits/blue prints for a beam placed in the kitchen. All electrical wires cut etc. I would like for this contractor to pay for damages done!

Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2022/03/22) */ In reference to the complaint we asked repeatedly for a sit down with the client and address their concerns. First we were hired to do the restoration for their property. Then we were able to get them an additional $*** for their repairs (Electrical & HVAC). We re-wired the entire home (installed 32 recessed lights that we agreed in our contract between Home Owner and Contractor. She had many more request for extras that were not part of insurance approval but were doing them with the same budget from insurance funds. All the extras that were done were in the contract agreement and the owner wanted 15% back and she wanted me to turn her garage into a ADU unit with the same funds. This was out of the questions impossible but did agree to do the extras inside her home only. We did not ask for a payment till we completed 25% of work. Once asked for a payment to continue work owner did not answer any of my calls. Instead her daughter emailed me to send over receipts and proof of work that was done for the $******. We gladly sent over the receipts but she refused to accept any of them or pay. Instead continuing a campaign of dishonesty that we trespassed, stoled and did work outside of contract as to charge her for it. When we had already agreed to those items in the contract. All in all she stated over and over she wants to pay us what we deserve but her real intentions has been not to pay anything and get everything for free. Up to know *** in work has been done to her home and she has paid ZERO! Consumer Response /* (2000, 10, 2022/03/28) */ (The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) We have already resolved this case with the contractors state license board through the mediation center. I want this case to be closed. thank you
