      We ordered 19 female ducks from Metzer farms to be delivered the week of 02/14/22. We were told 2 weeks in a row that there were issues but not given a reason for the delays. We received them the first week of March. A few died in transport and a few within 24 hours. Unfortunately that is not uncommon with any hatchery. They were responsive and refunded for the dead ducklings. The issue is that we have contacted them because after 10 months they haven't started laying. This breed typically begins laying at 5-6 months of age. We have 12 of the same breed that we purchased from another hatchery that began laying at 5 months and continue to lay regularly. We spent $315 dollars on ducklings plus the cost of feed for 10 months and and not a single one from Metzer will lay. I can understand 1, 2, or even 18 not laying but every single one is a little suspicious. They refuse to address the situation. Please help

      We are very perplexed by the problem that they are having with their ducks not laying any eggs. We have gone through all their management and they sent us pictures. As far as we can tell, their management and facilities are excellent. Now that the days are getting longer and it is a natural time for ducks to lay eggs, I suggested we wait a month to see if they start laying. The last response I received from them on Jan 20 was "Your suggestion is very reasonable. I can understand this may not be a common situation and we appreciate your suggestions and willingness to help walk us through possible solutions. I stand by my statement and I am in agreement with your suggestion to re-asses in a month." So to me the situation is "tabled" - there is nothing to do until they communicate with us in a month. Hopefully by that time their ducks are laying. Thank you.

      We have spoken with the company and have agreed to wait one month, so mid February, and readdress things at that time.
