My condo keys were stolen. So I needed my front door locks re- keyed on Saturday 6/29/24 night. The locksmith could not give me a quote over the phone and said he had to look at the locks to give an estimate. He told me that $79 per lock was the starting price, and that there was no weekend or night premium. He looked at my ******* lock set and told me they were bad locks and then tried to sell me new locks, then gave me an estimate of $189 to re-key that was the same as a new lock from him, but failed to mention it was per lock. The locksmith was friendly, but the price was inordinately high. It was an emergency situation for me so I paid it, but I am pretty unhappy about it, total cost of re-keying ******* dead bolt and door k*** locks $427 ($189 per lock plus a $49 charge for weekend service. Their practices are predatory and the cost of service is inflated.

I accidentally locked myself out of my car and had plans I had to rush to, so I ******d "locksmith near me" and called the first result: B&A Locksmith 24/7.They tell me a specialist will be calling me shortly. The specialist calls me, says he's 25 minutes out and the job would cost $29.00.He arrives, starts working on my car, has his tool through the window trying to open the door using the inside handle when he tells me the job will cost $350. I was confused and asked why? Is this based on distance driven? He says "no, this is the cost of the job". We went back and forth for a bit before I became exasperated and paid so that I could just leave. We were also alone in a parking garage and I began to fear for my safety. Not only was the price WAY higher than what he originally quoted me, he wrote down a fake name on the slip he handed me, and used his girlfriends personal cell phone number and her bank account to conduct the transaction. I called the business afterwards and they said they couldn't help as they are unaffiliated with the "specialist". I also checked their yelp and ****** reviews and they are apparently notorious for this sort of scam! They must be held accountable.

      Hello!

I saw the response from the business and i can tell you with 100% certainty that I have NOT received a phone call or email from the business. It was definitely B&A Locksmith 24/7 that I called and who sent me the specialist that scammed me. You can let them know that I am available to speak on the phone or via email and would certainly answer but I have not received any correspondence from them. If you look at their yelp page, you'll see they have many similar complaints.. I believe the business is trying to cover their tracks by claiming that they reached out to me. I have a phone number for the specialist that I spoke to as well if you need it. He said his name was *** but I believe his name is ***************** and his girlfriend who took my money is named *********************. Thank you!

This took place on 6/11/24 in the late afternoon. Our front door lock (about 15 years old) had not been working well. The handle kept falling off and I was concerned about not being able to lock the door that evening. I found B & A Locksmith which had great reviews (over 4.5 out of 5) and read through their desciption - over 20 years in business, family-owned and operated, service our area, and read reviews stating that they had fair pricing, were reliable, ... I received a call back soon after my husband called to put in our service request and the tech said he would be arriving within the hour. He introduced himself as *** and was personable. He asked about the lock and I explained the issue. He said he thought he would be able to fix it, but then after he took it apart, he said that an inner part was definitely broken and that he wouldn't be able to fix it properly. I asked what my options were. He said a new lock that was similar to the one we had would be $1000 and that prices for that type were going up all the time. We could not afford that, so I asked for the other option. He said he could put in a different type of lock that was more basic for $345 and that we would need to sand, putty and paint because of the different type not matching up. I knew we couldn't afford the $1000 option and was worried about not having a lock, so I went ahead with the cheaper option. It took him a short time to install. For payment, he said ***** would work and showed me a qr code and I paid. However later, I decided to double check options on ********** and found the same lock he installed for only $35 (and by ******* - his was a no brand) and then also found ones like what we had previously for only $135 (not $1000). I called to speak with someone about the misleading tactics to no avail. We want to return the lock that we removed and get a refund for that (which is listed as $315 on the invoice). Also, we want their ****** ad to be adjusted - bc they are falsely advertised.

Hello! When I most recently called b & a locksmith to try to work through this, I specifically asked for their address because it is not clearly listed anywhere. The one I gave you is the address I was given. I asked to speak with a manager or owner multiple times and was told I would get a call back but have not received one yet. This company seems shady- multiple names, difficult to contact, etc. I will also attach their ****** ad that portrays the company as having been in business for over 20 years and family owned and operated. But that doesnt appear to be the case. Their number in ****** has changed multiple time as well. Also their review jumped significantly recently and their rating has improved even though I noticed some negative reviews as of late. Perhaps bots that are adding positive reviews?

I am rejecting this response because:

The owner did not respond to me, and he has not refunded any money to me. He is lying.

I have called multiple times, and continue to get the runaround. The last time I called was on June 24, 2024. I spoke with a receptionist and went through my issue very specifically again. I was told that she took notes and would get my complaint to "upper management" and I would hear back before closing that day. I have yet to receive a response. I find it very unsettling that the response from the business to you was a blatant lie because I have repeatedly asked for a refund and have not received that, NOR an explanation or apology. I have checked the reviews more recently, and I see that someone has even filed a police report. This is a very shady business and I will continue to pursue a way to get my money back and for their ****** ad adjusted because I do not want this to happen to others.

      Sincerely,
