The contract; excavation and prep; grading and framing; pouring; finishing; sealing are the main components of the residential concrete contractor arrangement. The contract had non-specific or lacking descriptions and when questioned the proprietor always "it'll work out, trust my experience". However, the site preparation including grading the areas to be poured were chalk-lined out but the crew didn't follow them. The work site was left not only messy but dangerous every day with broken glass, cans, small pieces of wire, nails and screws scattered about way beyond the are being prepared for the pour. I cleaned up daily to assure the safety of my dog. I monitored the crews prep work every day to be sure they were adhering to the design that had been agreed upon. The first installment payment was due at completion of preparation which was not defined clearly and the proprietor started asking for payment 3 days after work begin. All said, that phase of work took over 2 weeks of which each day he asked for payment. I had to continually say "the work for this phase isn't done". *********************** would reply "yes, it is" and then proceed for days to do the work for that phase. At one point he even said "what am I going to tell my wife"? The final application of the sealant coating was completed leaving dozens of areas not sealed. There's more horror details but suffice it to say this is why I conclude 2 stars only. The workmanship is below average unless you monitor this contractor closely and speak up daily for corrective action to which and to his credit is received fairly well except the times *********************** talks circles around an issue making you land on exactly ignoring the issue because you can "live with it".
