I purchased three cars from Hawthorne Auto Square over 16 years. They advertised a 2016 MB C-class for $21,995 so I test drove it and liked it. ******** said the owner's son, who had taken over the business, would give me a discount because I purchased other cars. I spoke to the owner's son and said yeah come back the next day and we'll the deal happen. So I did but he never showed up. I left and when I went home I looked up the CarFax on the car and saw the car was in the bad accident and deemed a " salvage" vehicle. They were going to sell me a total loss car that I couldn't get insurance on or get it registered with the **** I found another car on their lot an Audi Q3 priced at $19,995. I run the CarFax it's clean ok let's do the deal with this car. They gave me the run away for three days finally I go into the dealership with my husband and they would say "the finance *************** has to approve the deal..." and " no the owner's son is the only one that can approve the deal..." I arrived at 6:30pm that same night three under age girls show up after 8pm got some car keys and park one of their cars in front turned on the music and started smoking weed and drinking tequila in the business. At 1:30am we were told the owner's son left, he didn't he was sitting in his car and to come back tomorrow and he would approve the deal. We came back the next evening and was told by the finance guy that the owner's son didn't want to approve the deal and they just sold the Audi to someone else and we could leave. Wow! So unprofessional and shady. I wonder if the owner knows what his half baked son is doing to his company? And turning down money. Why would I put myself and family through all that if I was serious? DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE, THEY ARE A RIP OFF!!! THEY ONLY WANT TO COLLECT A CHECK, THEY ARE NOT IN IT FOR HELPING PEOPLE OUT!! My son purchased his first vehicle February of 2022 and bought a Kia Optima, he only had the car for 5 1/2 months when the engine started making a knocking noise. Then his car just died, when he went to start it, it wouldn't start. We had to get a tow truck, the tow truck driver said some Kia's have lots of problems. We got it towed to the Mechanic and when he ran his diagnostic test it said the engine blew out... we started doing our research because it didn't make any sense and there was a recall on the 2017 Kia Optimas, why weren't we told? Or being a dealership shouldnt they have known. So we had it towed to a Kia Dealership and sure enough they said that my sons car has a recall on the engine and the Kia Dealership said that Hawthorne knew about the recall and shouldnt have sold us the car. My sons first car, which he was so excited about, saved up his checks, is a hard worker and bought himself his first car for Hawthorne to fail him, they dont care, they just want to collect there checks. My son put $3,000 and has a payment of $400 a month. The engine repair is going to cost us $8,000. Now how are they still in business and how is this fair? I would not recommend this place to anyone.Review from Keith H

They way this company treat me and my sister, with such disguise! The people was being racist towards me and my sister when we had all the documents proving we had insurance they kept lying saying we didn't have insurance when we do have insurance for all 8 of our cars. My husband and I purchased a vehicle from them in Sept. 2019. The price of the vehicle, was $12,995.00. We put a down payment of $2,000.00. We also gave them 500 a month, from October, until February 2020. Which amounted to $5000. We also had gap insurance, especially after Sean said he doesn't sale any vehicles with it. My family and I fell into hard times, and I missed a couple of payments. Needless to say, Hawthorne Auto Square had the car repoed. I ended up paying almost $2,000 to get the car out of impound, a short time later. Five days after that, I was involved in a terrible car accident, that was deemed the other parties fault. My husband and I contacted our insurance company immediately. Our insurance company said our car was a total loss, and paid out a $10,162 payment. Of course we had gap insurance, so we weren't worried at all. All of a sudden, I get a credit alert, in April 2021, I got an alert on my credit report that Hawthorne Auto Square, put a $4780.00 difference on my credit report😳 talk about getting knocked over the head. My husband and I immediately called them. My husband talked to a woman in the finance department, that told him that there was a computer glitch, and that they would take care of it for us. My husband felt a kind of way, and disputed it on his credit report. It was removed. I checked my report, and it was still there. I was furious. I called the finance department, and they asked if I wanted to make payment arrangements. They told me that gap insurance, denied my claim. I was shocked, and confused at the same time. The math just isn't adding up. I called back the next week, and was emailed the denial letter, and a payment history of my payments that I've made. Not only did the denial letter state that there was really nothing to pay out, I cross referenced my bank statements, with the payment breakdown that they sent me. Dates were wrong, along with payment amounts. They stated that I gave them $1,122 on a particular date, but my bank statement said I gave them $1,922. I spoke to a gentleman today, that said if I had any discrepancies, that I can show him. This is the thing, if the cars value was $12,995, and I was told that taxes and fees were $1,200, so that would bring the amount to$14,195. If you subtract the down payment, that would equal $9,195. My insurance company gave you $10,162!!!!!! Why are you trying to rob me of $4,780??!!!!! It doesn't make any sense!! I feel as if your company, is taking advantage of the black and brown communities!!!! It's unfair and unethical!! I can't even get a car now, to provide for my two disabled children!! Shame on you!!! I won't stop until this is rectified!! I would suggest if anyone buys a car from them, that they make sure everything is legit!!
