      08/25/2021

8/25/2021 This is an email I sent to A Plumbing Hero on Thursday after their visit to my 102 year old Grandmothers house to repair a leaking tub drain on the second story...."I called to question the $950 we were charged today. When I called on Monday I explained what needed to be done, my husband had already diagnosed it. I told Mayalee (not sure on spelling) that my husband was going to be there to take the two areas of the wall apart to open the area for the PLUMBER, I asked for a set appointment-not a range, because he knew how long it would take him to prep the area, he has been in construction for 28 years. I was never told by her that for this type of repair it would be a flat fee. When the ************ (it was not a 2 person job, so a customer should not have to pay for **********) showed up my husband was not told that it was a flat fee whether he did the work or not. The ************ were there for a little over an hour, the parts they used were maybe $150 *** and you charged $950... When my husband sent me a copy of the check with his comments on your fees I was shocked.I called to inquire and talked again to Mayalee who told me you charge a flat fee for that service whether or not my husband did all the prep work prior and put back together after. I was told Notalia was in a meeting and would call me back in an hour. It has now been over an hour and a half and no one has returned my call. If your company doesn't not have to do ALL the work, you should not charge the full amount of a "flat fee job". I should have looked on line prior, as there were reviews that stated you were overpriced and one stated you charged almost $300 for less than a 30 minute house call.I have put a stop payment on my check, saying I was disputing the charge, since Mayalee could not address my concern over the charge and could just state that it was a flat fee and that's the way "you charge customers". And since I did not receive the phone call from the "Manager/Owner" to address my concerns. I want to speak to someone regarding this issue before a payment is made, authorized, etc. because this is wrong and like highway robbery, that is over $200 per hour, per plumber!!! Not even acceptable. If that is the way you are going to charge people, you ought to be upfront and explain that. Please call me at ---- to discuss this issue and negotiate an appropriate T&M charge for this service call.Thank you,*******************"I spoke with the "owner/manager" Notalia on Friday, she continued to state these were flat fees charged this type of job whether or not the owner does the removal and replacement of the sheetrock and created the accessibility. A Plumbing Hero was called out to my 102 year old grandmothers house that I take care of for her! She said she would speak to her field manager and get back to me on Monday, it is now Wednesday and I still have not received a call, she has not been in the office when I called. Last Wednesday, I paid less in labor ($850) to have my well water pump extended down an additional 40 ft into the well and a new well pump put on my own home, and the well company was at my home for over 4 hours with 2 guys. That is $106.25 per hour per technician. Another Plumbing company in the town where I live is $97.00 plus materials. Those are reasonable and fair labor rates.I have no complaints with the gentleman that showed up to do the actual work, my husband said he/they were thorough and professional. My problem is with the amount that they are trying to charge and the Flat Fees that are totally unreasonable to all customers not just me and my grandmother. I will be filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau also.
