This client had finalized and terminated their Plan with SDCooper Company a few years ago and had sent emails to ***** Cooper, unaware that he had passed away in August 2023. While ******* emails are being monitored, they are not actively monitored as most people and client's are aware of his passing and do not send emails there. We did receive two voicemails both on Thursday and Friday, but I (the main administrator) was not working those two days so I did not receive them until the following Monday. This complaint with the BBB appears to have been filed that weekend before Monday ( two days after the first voicemail would have been left). Our voicemail does indicate what email to contact should they require a faster response but no such email had been sent there. His issue was addressed that Monday upon receiving his voicemails and ended up being a matter for his attorney (not our company) to take care of as those particular matters do not pertain to what SDCooper Company handles and are outside our area of expertise. I believe this was simply a complaint due to the client having been out of touch for a fear years and had outdated contact information of who to reach out to for the particular urgency.

This is not a satisfactory response to the bigger problem I have in hand. By just referring this issue to the BK Attorney who filed the ** doesn't help. This letter that I receive from Treasury clearly calls out the *** Commapny Profit Sharing Plan. I requested a letter be provided from your firm who filed the final Taxes and closed the Trust to state that the Trust account was closed out. It's that simple a letter is what I requested to be provided.

I tried calling you regarding the above complaint. Mr. ****** did in fact receive a call back from us.

He ceased to exist with our company as a client in 2017.

Please inform me of the next steps.

      Thank you!

I have been a client for over 15 years, I am in the process of shutting down the profit sharing plan that the company sponsors and no one is responding to emails or phone messages for over 2 months. I question if they are even in business as a result of the owners death. Filing complaint with ********** Attorney ************************* and other federal regulators.

Unfortunately, due to two of the owners passing away this year (one in February) the other in (August), we experienced delays in our response, particularly this client who was in need of more expertise advice that was often given by ***** Cooper, who passed in August 2023. While the new owner was in transition into ***** Coopers position, it took some time for him to get settled into his new role and to get caught up on some of the work that got behind due to *****'s illness and sudden passing following that. The months of July-October are our offices busiest time of the year due to the tax deadlines that fall between this time and so everything happened at an unfortunate time. Our offices are NOT closed and we are still in full operation otherwise we would have announced this to our clients. The client's matter was handled even though it took longer than he and we ourselves had hoped it would. We never have had such a delay in getting back to a client if not for these unexpected events that took place late this year. It should also be noted that we are not attorneys nor business consultants. We set up Profit Sharing Plans and Corporations and provide ministerial services to the Profit Sharing Plan by filing the tax return each year but any of the free consulting done beyond that (which was often given by *****) is done as a courtesy to our clients, not a necessity. With *****'s passing, the consulting was delayed which is most likely why a client would get upset especially after 15 years of being with us because client's come to expect this type of service from us rather than understand it as a courtesy. It's been a challenging year but the new owner has been able to adjust to the new role and our biggest tax deadline is almost behind us so we are optimistic about things working smoother as the year progresses so that none of our clients experience what this particular one did.
