My husband, *** ******, purchased a car warranty plan from this organization in September 2024. At that time, he paid for the contract for a full year - $3692.00. After discussing, we determined we did not need this plan. We attempted to cancel the contract in October, via certified mail. This letter was signed for by "*******" on the 22nd of October, 2024. *** passed away on Feb 14, *********** Day. Once we started going through all of his files/papers, we found that this had not been resolved. We had not heard back from *** or received a refund of our money. I can tell you, they are extremely difficult to raise on the phone. They do not return phone messages and they do not respond to emails. We did finally get them on the phone shortly after ***** passing and they informed us they did receive his letter, but said it needed to be notarized. So we sent a new copy of the letter with a notary ****************** This second letter was received by the same "*******" on the 26th of Feb. Now, when we call, they state they don't have the 2nd letter. I'm calling BS. From where I'm sitting, they are doing everything they can to take advantage of us!Business Response

On November ******* I purchased an extended auto warranty for my jeep rubicon from a call I received from the company; Warranty Protection Services. At that time a payment was made in the amount of $214.00 through the billing service company by the name of Mepco. In the warranty agreement I agreed to make 18 monthly payments in the amount of $214.00. On Saturday, February 8, 2025 I sold the vehicle. On Monday morning February 10, 2025 I notified **** at Warranty Protection Services that the vehicle had been sold. On February 10th my 16th payment in the amount of $214.00 was scheduled and debited from my checking account. **** assured me that the last two payments would be cancelled and my automatic payment would be stopped. He then stated I needed to send a notarized letter of the odometer reading and reason for cancelling to the company. I immediately went to send my notarized letter to him with a tracking number that would be received two days later. *** Ex confirmed the letter was signed for on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. No further payment installments were debited from the account as an acknowledgement of our conversation regarding the cancellation of the contract. I have contacted this company repeatedly to inquire of the status of money owed back to me. The call is sent to an automated answering service that obnoxiously distorts your repeated name and phone number, so no return call is received. I have called this company exhaustingly. On February 26, 2025 a very **** ******** returned my call to notify me that the cancel department has not received my letter stating a refund request. When asked to speak directly to this department she could not offer me information to get in touch with them. The extended warranty was never used on the jeep. I respectively paid my installment agreement throughout ownership of the vehicle. The agreement clearly states I am due a refund.Business Response

I responded to a letter I received in the mail. The agents name was Shiva, supposedly, gave me her call back number and ext.1007..After her prolonged speech and I told her no thanks she began asking were the payments too high or was the down payment too high? I said both and miraculously they had a special rate from seniors and my down payment would only be $100 and no additional charges to my card for 30 days then the monthly payments would begin...I was told that I had 30 days to think about it and decide whether or not to take the policy..Cancel anytime. I was transferred to the verification something who went over all the details again. When she finished I told her I wanted to just go ahead and cancel the account but she said that wasn't possible until AFTER the first payment was made...!!!! For the last 3 days I've called that number repeatedly and the ** a****** says someone will call back and they never do. That's how they stop you from cancellling...but I wont be swayed...***** gonna give me my money back...Business Response

The company received a notarized cancellation letter in accordance with their warranty book instruction on Jan 27, 2024 (per **** Tracking# **********************) which they have confirmed they received on Jan 27, 2024. The Vehicle Warranty by Warranty Protection Services -- Warranty Contract# MAS229103833 was effective Feb 13, 2024 with a 30 day wafting period for a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado with ****** miles; Expiration date of March 13, 2029; 60 Months or ******* miles. Warranty was paid up front in full for $3,826.00; Customer is due a prorated minimum refund for 48/60 months of $3,060.80. Truck VIN *****************. Odometer ****** January 24, 2025 (date cancellation letter was mailed). After numerous calls to *** beginning on Tuesday Jan 28, 2025 they would not confirm they received the notarized cancellation letter, up to and until today, Friday Feb 10, 2025. This afternoon (my 6th call) they confirmed they received the letter on Jan 27, 2025 but it has not yet been entered into the system. I was told to call back again on this Friday Feb 14, 2025 to see if it has been entered into their system. When it is entered they will put down the date and the refund should be issued shortly thereafter. When I asked how long before they issue the refund check, I was told that it takes about 8 weeks. This is rediculous and excessive. They have never paid a claim on this warranty and have had the use of the purchase price from day one and now they want to wait almost 3 months to refund what they cannot deny they owe based on their own written contract cancellation procedures.Business Response

Warranty Protection Services is saying one thing to BBB and another to me. I have read many of the over 200 complaints from other customers of this ********************** on the BBB site and many mirror the same frustration we are experiencing.
All we are asking for is a timely refund. We do not dispute the amount of the refund the business verified in their response to this complaint. Three months is not timely. *** has had the required notarized cancellation letter since Jan 27, 2025. They now say it will be 8-10 weeks before we receive the refund check (per my call today with ****** at ************).
We are asking that the business immediately send a certified bank check for $3,062.45 to **** ******** by **** Priority mail and provide a tracking # to ****** email address as soon as it is available so this can be tracked. The check should be sent to the address of record on the warranty contract of **************************************************
Yesterday I spoke with ***** at the same tel# ****** gave me and was told they do not have the tracking # in her department but she would walk the file over to that department that does and have someone call me back. I got no call yesterday or this morning so I called and spoke with ****** as noted above. Also before I spoke with ***** yesterday ****** had called me back in response to my call to CS to get the tracking # to see where the check was enroute to ****. I had spoken to ****** before and today he said he has cancelled the contract even though **** never called in to cancel it. I told him just as I did the 1st time I talked with him the warranty book says nothing about calling to cancel but requires a written notarized letter to cancel the warranty, and we provided that on Jan 27, 2025. He said the check was mailed the day before (Wednesday Feb 12) but he did not have a tracking #. When I asked him who does have the tracking # he gave me the # I called and spoke to ***** on yesterday and to ****** on today.
That is very different that the complaint response WPS made to BBB as you have provided. This says the amount of the refund and invites the customer to call their CS# for the tracking detail. It is all designed to drag out the process that should not take 3 months. I have had numerous other conversations with this business regarding this complaint but have not detailed them here. The first time was the day after they received the cancellation letter (Jan 28, 2025). You get an AI agent on the phone and go through the game and "it" tells you a "Live Agent" will call you back soon. Sometimes a Live Agent will call back but often not so you go through the game again. I have spoken to several Live Agents over this process and no two give you the same answer when it comes to meaningful information. It was not until Monday Feb 10, 2025 that any Live Agent would confirm they even received the cancellation letter.
Thank you again for your help. You accomplished more in two days than we have since Jan 24, 2025 when we mailed the cancellation letter to Warranty Protection Services.

** has reviewed customer second complaint. This is not a valid complaint. CS has processed and will provide tracking details of refund for the amount of 3062.45. Indeed there are over 200 complaints on the BBB. Keep in mind we have helped ********* plus customers cover thier car. So very small complaints compared to the amount of customers we have helped.
