Textbook maniac through BookDeal is commiting mail fraud. I sold multiple books on bookdeal and once the books arrived textbook maniac accepted the books without noting any damage and then on bookdeal they claimed that the books were damaged and adjusted the amount to pay me to $0. Bookdeal is very aware that textbook maniac is performing these unethical practices and continue to allow them to rip customers off on their site.Business response

Hello,
Order date: 1-15-2022
Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction, and we understand how frustrating such situations can be.
According to our records. The package was delivered but two out of the three books were not received. It's important for us to clarify that our company policy outlines that our buyers are not responsible for items lost during transit. We provide packing guidelines to prevent this from happening. In the event that the carrier loses contents we recommend taking this matter to the carrier directly. We are sorry but we cannot provide more information or tracking info regarding your package since the order is over a year old.
The deal was approved for one book but because the deal adjustment was declined it was not released. The amount will be issued once the seller approves the adjustment. Please reach out to ********************************** for any concerns or questions. We try our best to answer within 1 business day.
Sincerely,
BookDeal TeamCustomer response

I declined the adjusted deal because the seller claimed two of the books in the package were not received. I reached out shortly after the buyers dishonesty and never got a response from BookDeal. I declined the adjustment to $0 for the two books not the money for the only one they claimed to have received. That is still owed to be and expect some sort of reversal.
Explain to me how two books could have magically disappeared while the third remained in the package.
Bookdeal is well aware of Textbook Maniacs dishonest practices based off the numerous complaints about them. They are ripping off many college students who absolutely need the funds. I am appalled that BookDeal would allow Textbook Maniac to continue to use their site after they have proven to be unethical.

Textbook Maniac through BookDeal is committing mail fraud. Textbook Maniac through BookDeal agreed to buy 6 books of mine for $61. My book deal number is ********* and the date of the deal was May 28. On June 1 I mailed the books with the prepaid mailing label from ***** On June 7, Textbook Maniac said, "Package was damaged in shipment and empty when received it." This is false and is mail fraud. They said they my book deal was adjusted to $0. Per BookDeal's policy if the buyer rejects the books, they will mail them back to the seller. Since the box was "empty" they get to keep the books and do not have to pay me. My local post office said they have no record of the box arriving damaged, opened, or empty. Someone at Textbook Maniac accepted the box as is without notting any damage. I researched reviews for BookDeal and Textbook Maniac (including the * rating for Textbook Maniac through the Better Business Bureau). It appears that exact and similar complaints as mine have been made since 2019. This is mail fraud. I am filing a case with the federal government as both of these companies are involved in deceitfully and intentionally stealing books from people. I have also filed a complaint/reviews with various fraud sites and will do so with Better Business Bureau as well. BookDeal knows that this is happening and yet they continue to let Textbook Maniac work as a buyer on their site. They are complicit in this. I demand that the agreed upon $61 be paid to me asap.Business response

I sold my books back to this website in March 2023. They were packaged through ***** in two separate boxes as asked by the website with the corresponding shipping label. One book was provided compensation for, but somehow the book that was in the same box didnt get accounted for. And the other package was not compensated at all. The purchasers for my book deals stated that the package was so severely damaged or missing which I do not believe is the case. The books were packaged well and were brand new books. To not receive the smallest dollar amount sounds ridiculous. I have tried contacting the buying websites and have not received a response. I either need my books back or I need them to provide the amount that was in the original deal. If the books are damaged as they claim, I would like some photo evidence. I have shipped fragile items before and even glass doesnt arrived damaged. This website has buyers who are completely scamming customers.Business response

On September 4, 2022, I sold a textbook in excellent condition to this company bookdeal.com. They agreed to purchase the book from me for $68.85 and promised to reimburse my Venmo account within five days of receiving the book. I follow their instructions to mail the book and mailed it two days later. I've made repeated phone calls to the company and only end up in their voicemail box. They have not returned any of my messages the deal number is *********. I would like for book deal to honor their agreement and to pay me for the book that they received and in turn sold to a company called happy books.Business response

Deal # *********, I created an account to sell books through Bookdeal.com. There was an offer from TextBookStore on 2 of my new, never used books for $27.69 so I followed the instructions for packing, included packing slip, and shipping. The box was mailed via **** on 7/3/2022. I received a C.O.D. package notice on 7/25 with postage due of $26.04. I left a note for my mail lady that I need to know who it was from before I pay anything. It was left without payment at my door today, from EasyPost. I have no reason why my books were returned or why I was required to pay postage for sending them back to me. Is this a scam to get people to mail their books and them send them back C.O.D?Business response

I sent in my textbooks to Bookdeal expecting to be paid for these books. They were in very good condition, no rips nothing. Bookdeal facilitates finding buyers for your books. I sent my books to the buyer textbook maniac but received no payment. I reached out to them and they informed me that they showed having paid for the books in their system but that bookdeal were the ones to talk to if I had not been paid. Upon reaching out to bookdeal they said that my books were in horrible condition and that I did not receive the money because they were valued at $0. I reached out to them further but they said that they were just the middle man and could not pay me because of the books poor condition.Business response
