My vehicle was in for a wheel alignment (primary reason for visit) and to investigate a small break fluid leak (secondary reason for visit) at the proportioning valve-relief valve. What was to be a 2-hour repair (estimate) turned into 6 1/2 hours. Once I received my keys and entered my vehicle, I noticed the odometer read ****** but when I dropped off my vehicle, it read ******. An additional 9 miles had been added (driven) to my vehicle's odometer. Excessive milage for a systems check after a wheel alignment (in my opinion). Driving the vehicle off the lot and into traffic I noticed my vehicle would not shift into 2nd or 3rd gear, leading me to believe my vehicle was damaged during a 9 mile (possible) joy ride by the mechanic. I called ******************* and told him about the 9 additional miles added to the odometer and he agreed it was excessive. Then I mentioned the (new) issue with the lack of shifting when merging onto to traffic and ask to have the mechanic that completed my alignment (and "test" drove my vehicle) to answer the question about the 9 mile "test" drive. The mechanic was heard saying he drive the vehicle on 3 different occasions and that the car was not shifting into 2nd since he first drove it. **** then told me he would not help after I asked "why would he test drive a vehicle that is exhibiting signs of transmission trouble for 9 miles!?" and hung up the phone mid-conversation.

After reviewing with our general manager ********* **** we both agreed that we had to test drive his vehicle 3 times number 1 was to test to see if there was any issues we need to specifically look for on alignment we drove and put his car on rack while inspecting we noticed that the customer did have a brake fluid leak at his proportioning valve in which he asked us to check we tightened check valve side cleaned off and pressured check with machine and manually applying pressure on brake pedal with no leaks detected, so we decided to retest drive under normal operating speeds and braking brought car back to recheck found no more leak now we can proceed to do alignment now that brakes are good, as you know braking system must be in working order when doing alignment so we did alignment noting that right camber slightly off but should be no issue at this time but if he wanted to fix that we would need to re-shim control arm. We will recheck in a few months to see and make decision then, So at this point we did 3rd test drive to make sure alignment good, Now the route we take here is probably 2 or 3 miles do to having only straight stretch on beach Blvd. so the mileage on his car for 3 test drives is not in excess in our opinion, as for transmission issue  us test driving the car at street speeds for a few miles would have nothing to  do with transmission slipping. We can take to our trans shop and have them diagnose.  if customer likes .

      Thank you
