I signed a client agreement with Pamela ********** to provide support and guidance for the college application process. This included counseling sessions over phone, email and video conference. The contract required that 10 hours of sessions, at a rate of $500/hr be paid in advance.We have had only two formal video conference meetings with my son, and a handful of email exchanges. The emails mainly consisted of short responses, such as "Sounds good, thanks!" and "Thanks for the update. Congrautlations! Let's touch base when you have the chance.These services were to help with my son, ******'s, college application process. We recently contacted Pamela to make an appointment for the remaining 8 sessions, but she emailed us telling us that she was overbooked and had dropped us as a client. She also refused to refund us the money that we had already paid for her services. She claimed that the service was only for 6 months and that refunds were not allowed. I reviewed the client agreement and noticed there was a cancellation policy, that required either party could cancel the contract with written notice. This never happened. Furthermore, there is no language saying refunds are not allowed.We wish to receive a refund of $4000 USD for the unused portion of the services we were not given. Since she claimed to be overbooked, we do not wish to continue with her services. Her failure to notify us in writing and to unilaterally stop the agreement is a violation of her own client agreement. We do not consider the emails and phone calls, material instances of the services since the answers were mainly acknowledgements and not really fall into the category of the Topics of Interest in her own client agreement.
