The owner of La Mesa Auto Care, ***** gave me an estimate for repair to have my seatbelt tensioner replaced, he told me that was the reason my "Service Airbag" warning light was on (even though my vehicle has never been involved in collision). I told him my "Service Parking Brake" light had come on a few times intermittently in the last few weeks but had stopped coming on. I wasn't sure if this was yet another electric fault with my ***** Volt, as there has been a history of electrical malfunctions with it during the past almost 5 years I have owned it. I agreed to his estimate to replace the seatbelt tensioner (part and labor) and to check if a fault code was coming up for the parking brake. The estimated total was $375, and I signed this estimate. Later that day I received a call (which went to voicemail since I was on a job) from the woman who works the front desk. Her voicemail said that they found a bunch of other problems with my car and to call her back so we could discuss it. I listened to this voicemail about 4p that day. I immediately called her back and she started to tell me the owner wanted to talk to me about several fault codes that came up when they checked my car. I asked her to please give me a total for labor and the part that had been installed before anything else was discussed. She told me she would call me back shortly with that total. When I hadn't heard from her a half-hour later, I called again, no answer. I got a message from her the following day saying that my car was done and ready to be picked up. At the time I came to pick up & pay, the owner told me my car had needed much more work to get the airbag warning light off, and that installing the new part had triggered a new code in the seatbelt, which they then had to go in and fix, and how much time they had to spend on figuring out the seatbelts, including the ones in the rear by reading the manual. This work was never authorized by me. Total $941.53. Wouldn't release car w/out payment
