On April 22, 2021 while replacing the driveshaft u-joint and the existing OEM carrier with a brand new ****** OEM carrier bearing on my 2007 ****** Tundra truck, the mechanic, Hung, damaged the aluminum yoke retaining the u-joint. This damage was not brought to my attention when I picked up my vehicle. In addition, after taking my truck back to the 76 station to properly repair the damage, they proceeded to remove my existing driveshaft, which included the brand new ****** OEM carrier bearing (for which I paid extra money for) and installed a used, salvaged, unbalanced driveshaft, with a used aftermarket carrier bearing. I consider this theft. Below is the detailed incident. After the original work was done on my truck, and after some time of driving it around, I began hearing louder and louder clunking and clicking sounds, in addition to vibration coming from my truck. I inspected the underside of my truck and took photos of the newly replaced ****** OEM carrier bearing and u-joint. I was shocked to see the damage done to the aluminum on the yoke that retains the u-joint. I returned to ******** Union 76 on June 18, 2021 and provided proof of the damage done to employee *****, who stated that the vehicle was completely unsafe to drive, and that I should not even drive it the few blocks back to my residence. He did offer me their parts delivery vehicle to use until the driveshaft could be properly repaired, however I declined the use of their vehicle and walked home. At the end of the business day on June 18, 2021, mechanic Hung called and said they did not have the time to work on my vehicle, nor the room to store my vehicle, and asked me to drive my unsafe vehicle home and bring it back Monday June 21, 2021. For fear of my vehicle being left out in the open and possibly broken into, I walked back to the 76 station and retrieved my vehicle. I dropped my truck back off on Monday June 21, 2021 as requested, and received a call Tuesday June 22, 2021 from mechanic Hung stating my truck was ready to be picked up. After arriving at the 76 station, I immediately crawled under my vehicle to inspect the repair work. Noticing that the installed parts were now completely different, used and rusted, I immediately took photos of the now installed salvaged driveshaft, and the aftermarket used carrier bearing. Station owner **** handed me the keys to my truck, with no accompanying paperwork, and said "sorry". To avoid any confrontations, I just drove my vehicle home. Once home, after a full visual inspection and a phone call to a known employee at Driveshaft Pro (formerly *********************** the driveshaft company ******** Union 76 utilizes for driveshaft repairs, I was convinced the complete driveshaft and carrier bearing had indeed been replaced with salvaged parts by ******** Union 76. On Thursday June 24, 2021, I returned to the 76 station and requested in writing the exact work done. Mechanic Hung provided a repair/service description form and I left. Not only did the employees of ******** Union 76 cause damage to my vehicle without admitting it, they stole ****** OEM parts that I paid for, and replaced them with used salvage parts. Although I have been credited through my credit card company for the original driveshaft repairs, it is not enough to cover repairing the damage that has been done to my driveshaft. Unfortunately, the whole driveshaft will now need to be replaced. I have attached the only paperwork received from ******** Union 76, and the contact information for Driveshaft Pro. Also, if needed, I have time/date stamped photos of the before and after "repairs".
