Took my 2014 ****** Prius Plug-in in mid-Nov 2021 because of a flashing check engine light.My contact has been the service manager, ****, who is calm and mild-mannered.I paid over $4K for my head gasket to be replaced on my Prius. About a week after they took my money and "repaired" the car, my engine imploded (as I was driving across the Dumbarton bridge). I had it towed (at my expense) back to ****** Automotive and they said, "This happens very rarely. Coolant leaked into the cylinder and it compromised the connecting rod. It does happen from time to time but we didn't see anything and couldn't have known." This oversight resulted in a completely damaged engine and an undriveable car. Currently, I have no car to drive. To "make it right" they offered to credit me the $4K I already paid them toward the installation of a used engine. And it's been at least two weeks that they've had my car.They won't give me the name of their insurance carrier so that I can file a claim. And every time I call now, **** tells me, "I'm swamped." And tries to get off the phone with me. Very dodgy.Business response

I am rejecting this response because:(1) When I asked ****** Automotive to repair my car, I was not asking them to do a specific repair, but rather, I wanted them to diagnose what was wrong and deliver a result that would give me a running vehicle. Whether they did perfect work on something that did not end up fixing my car (which is what they assert) is not the point.
(2) When I took it to a second mechanic who HAS repaired my car, he told me that it is ABSOLUTELY something that could/should have been observed and could have been avoided when they opened up the engine. They did not do a good job performing the repair. They fixed HALF of the problem and the other half they didn't fix resulted in my car blowing up and the potential for personal safety hazards.
(3) Now that I have gotten the car fixed from a mechanic who knew about the situation (which cost me over $4,000), I do not want to pay for the SAME repair twice. ****** automotive should provide me with a refund.
